Just a quick heads up for those who may worry about getting featured on our site: if you sample the Spider-Man cartoon intro in the first song of your album, and old skool game instrumentals on other songs, well then chances are you’ll be on this site by the morning. We recently got a press kit from Denver Colrado MC, Eddie Knolls, and I have to be honest I was convinced on this dude by the time I finished the short intro video. Eddie Knolls is the real deal. No gimmicks, no bullshit, just a straight up hip-hop kid making good music. If you’re a fan of Big L, A Tribe Called Quest, Digital Underground ear-Tupac then you’ll be a fan of this dude. His intro video is really interesting, and he discusses the important difference between hip-hop and rap.

After going through about 5 emails of baaaad submissions, it was a welcome relief to come across this offering from Mafia Kid. ‘Better Days’ is a reflective track, and Mafia discusses the issues of being in a family with a father that is either not there, not cheating on his mother. I know a lot of people have done this before, but dude does a good job of shinning a new light on it.

Our homies in The Scribes have had a busy year, and have recently released a lyric video entitled ‘Ha!’ It’s a ridiculously catchy and fun track and stands as good track to wake you all up on this sunny, shinny Monday afternoon. Have a listen, then why not check a cheeky freestyle video we filmed with them a few months ago. You can also get their LP which was released last year over on Bandcamp, and you should because it was one of the best hip-hop releases of 2012.
