Detroit emcee Leaf Erikson hit me up with an email for this release after reaching out via a message on our FB page and I’ve kinda longed him out due to the deluge of submissions. However, I’ve finally got to it and now who’s feeling the dumb arse for not getting to this sooner! ‘Hidden Gems’ is an apt title for this dope EP from this talented emcee.
8 tracks deep featuring lyrical rhymes, dope, smooth jazz and soul fuelled beats, with all featuring producers and emcees all contributing to making this a seriously dope release. I’m struggling to pick a favourite or single our any specific joints, it’s best to let the music speak for itself.
This is Leaf Erikson’ 1st release with Australian label Fifty Records and his debut vinyl release, get your copy of the ‘Hidden Gems’ EP here

With proceeds going to international charity Sow A Seed, in aid of underprivileged young people in the UK and abandoned children in Africa, emerging UK Hip Hop artist, youth worker and Thornton Heath native Leon Anthony is proud to debut his brand new single titled ‘Growing Up’ featuring East London rapper A Star.
Produced by Geeda Beatz, who has previously worked for Grammy Award winning rapper Lecrae, ThisL and Derek Minor among others, ‘Growing Up’ is a gritty, raw and uncompromising record, which sees Leon Anthony delivering an insightful, thought-provoking social commentary on inner city London youth culture, with strong support from A Star, who also delivers a compelling narrative.
On ‘Growing Up’, Leon tackles heavy issues surrounding growing up in London, life and death, spirituality and community, while striking a perfect balance between delivering a strong message and creating an infectious Hip Hop record. From its catchy chorus and piercing instrumentation, to the quick fire flow and commanding delivery from Leon and A Star, ‘Growing Up’ is a massive debut from Leon Anthony.
Speaking about the new singe, Leon states, “’Growing Up’ is to engage the youth of today and to raise funds for abandoned children in Africa. I did not have the best start in life as my best friend was murdered when I was just 16 years old. Whilst this was a traumatic experience for me, God has been able to help me overcome many obstacles like this one, motivating me to make an impact on the lives of others through music”.
