Crise Da God is still only young, but I’m a fan of his slightly off key style. Hopefully he’ll stay on this kind of style, and not go the way of so many young MCs and add tripple snares, bitches and bling, because he definitely has more talent and potential than that. For now it’d be interesting to see where Crise Da God goes, and how his style develops; we’ll stay posted on this kid for sure.
Alright, so this isn’t strictly on a hippity hoppity tip, it’s more to the rhythm and blues/folky side of things, but since every other rapper and their mum uses singer song writers to get a nice hook for their songs, then you’ll forgive us for promoting Shezar. She has a whole heap of talent, and her voice doesn’t need any auto-tune to hold a note (I know right, you can sing without a computer. It’s crazy but true). She has an impressive set of lungs, and would seat nicely at an acoustic spoken-word or freestyle jam for sure.
Alright, alright here’s a collaboration she did with Wretch 32 and Devlin. Happy now?
Chelsea Reject is back with another video already, and this one’s a bit smoother instrumentally but still holds your attention as much as her earlier release. For fans of Jill Scott, Lauryn Hill (Ooooh noze I went thererere).
DJ and producer, DJ Pain 1 breaks it down in some very informative videos, giving people advice on how to go about promoting yourselves, and your music. Some of his advice and tips are just plain common sense, and some aren’t so obvious, but either way if you’re a small artist, I strongly suggest you take a few minutes out of your day and watch these videos. DJ Pain 1 is a straight forward and honest dude, and considering he lives off his music, he knows a thing or two about how to be make a career. It doesn’t matter if you’re fan of his music or not, he’s worked hard, and has a lot of good knowledge to share.
Whatever success means to you, be it getting your video 1000 plays, regular shows, or having it pay your rent, these video were very interesting. Don’t spam, and get a Twitter account!

Anyone who shoots a video of themselves pretending to be in a spaceship deserves some respect. Fuck a 1000 grand budget, VNova lets his talent attract you, not the polished video.
“Trying to find out reasons why the job won’t hire you. I gotta degree. Experience overseas; my resume tossed around as if I got a felonies. Yep, this is me”. Fucking preach!
You can get the track for free over at Lyric Jones’ Bandcamp page.
A bit of spoken-word tinged rap, I’m impressed-you should be too, obviously.
ESM Clothing have started releasing a pretty interesting series that focuses on promoting all aspects of hip-hop. A different graff writer, MC and beat maker each time. This part features bars by Hi Res of Split Prophets, beats by Prevent/George Fields and the visuals by Cluck.
