ESM Clothing have started releasing a pretty interesting series that focuses on promoting all aspects of hip-hop. A different graff writer, MC and beat maker each time. This part features bars by Hi Res of Split Prophets, beats by Prevent/George Fields and the visuals by Cluck.

A year after the passing of breaker’s favourite, Jimmy Castor DJ Doom and Nutso have come together to create a tribute track remixing Castor’s classic B-boy/girl anthem ‘It’s Just Begun’. Whilst you can’t fuck with an original like that, DJ Doom and Blunted Astronaut have given their own take on the track, and mixed it up with some sick verses and of course lovely scratches. You can get the song and instrumental version on LP which features Large Professor, Tony Touch and El Da Sensei over at Blunted Astronaut Records.
A more soul/funk vibe influenced beat tape from the Doc Heller/DarkoTheSuper/Dwarf Nebula. For those not fans of his previous Madlib-esqe previous vocal and beat releases, you might find this one more to your liking. Although I think they all sit next to each other nicely. Have a cheeky listen of Doc Heller’s latest offering that is put out via DaP Station then give his earlier LPs a go around. If you’re a fan of cassettes and the warmer sound that analog gives you, you can cop this from DaP Station via the Bandcamp page.

I can safely say I have never heard a rap song about the death of Superman, but now I have and I’m surprised no one else has before. Jus Daze recounts the last days of Superman, as a a bit of a dead beat husband, cheating on Louis Lane, lacking in my hero duties and generally becoming a joke before his death. It’s a really interesting song, and since I’m a comic book nerd I am a little bias, but whether or not you are this is a really well done song, that shows off Jus Daze’s song writing abilities. The whole song itself is written as a dream that the writer had, and is meant to mirror his own personal life, in which case I would have to say that he’s just gotten out of a huge break-up, and Superman’s character reflects that perfectly. Even super heroes get their heart’s broken.
‘Superman’s Dead’ is off Jus Daze’s new ‘Walk Twice As Hard’ which is will be released later this year. You can get this track for free from his Soundcloud account, but c’om it’s $1 seriously and you can’t run to that?
Always going to support TrixCity and Hulk, and you should too. “Whole heap of palaver!”
Press release!
“After spending 2012 smashing up show’s alongside the likes of Wu Tang’s GZA, Pete Rock & CL Smooth and Lord Finesse, the working-class Dad himself, Micall Parknsun aka Parky brings in the new year with the long awaited unveiling of his most personal outing to date, the highly anticipated new album “Me Myself & Akai”.
The formula’s simple: Micall Parknsun + 1 x Akai MPC = “Me Myself & Akai”.
The album is entirely self-produced, with Micall spitting that trademark gravel-pit flow over his very own brand of box-fresh beats! Lyrics range from the introspective (My Own Worst Enemy, When I See You) to the outright rowdy (Grade & Liquor, Wotchalookinat?) with a host of guests joining P to season his boom-bap broth with their own very special verbal herbals; including Dubbledge, Jehst, Joker Starr and Ramson Badbonez.
The album is now finally available to buy on CD and digital download!”

Mick Jenkins does a good job of showing other rappers how to construct good narrative and story.
