Soundcrash takes it back to the roots for a night of classic bass-heavy party music to East London. We’ve invited in 3 of the UK’s most respected djs in the game to play an all nighter of hip hop, soul, breaks and beats . Save the date, it’s a Friday night showdown.
DJ Woody drops by to show us all what he’s all about. The 2x world turntable champion + former UK DMC champ is a genuine kind of a guy, needing nothing more than two turntables, a mixer and an audience to know he’s alive… Described by the Scratch Perverts as “One of the most creative forces in djing the UK scene has ever produced!!” he even helped Vestax design the World’s first ever musical turntable. Holding quite a few titles, Woody certainly lives up to his world champion status not only by beat juggling and scratching, but designing and producing – fully submerging himself, all for the love of music. His latest venture is the influential new AV/DJ show ‘Turntables In Technicolor’,a way of expanding his ever growing skill set and pushing the medium to new heights!
Drummer, producer and DJ extraordinaire, Jon Kennedy is a Stockport legend signing firstly to Tru Thoughts and then Manchester soul label Grand Central Records. Never one to rest on his laurels, his own musical productions has seen him work with the likes of Vans and Channel 4 while more recently JK has been finishing up his fifth LP “Corporeal” released this April on his own Jon Kennedy Federation imprint. Jon’s flavour is pure dancefloor heat, and the man will be representing the very best in UK based Funk Soul & Hip Hop beats for your listening pleasure tonight…
Soundcrash resident DJ Boba Fatt, is one hell of a selector. With music knowledge that puts him above the rest, you can call him the hip hop ‘Melomane’. His love of music finds him crate digging most of the time, finding the rarest grooves and beats that we’ve never heard of and will probably never hear again! Working in original vinyl stores, he’s well ahead and exceptionally knowledgeable in music than most DJs in the scene, you’ll find yourself taking notes…BobaFatt rolls with the big boys, previously warming up for DJ Jazzy Jeff, KRS One, EPMD, MOP, The Pharcyde, Dead Prez, Lord Finesse and Chali 2na to name a few…
