Aswad Mikal member of rhyme duo, The Knotz returns with a new solo joint “Mikal”, Produced by Charon it’s the second leak from his forthcoming album, ‘Iron Throne’.
Features on the ‘Iron Throne’ album include such notables as Sheek Louch (The Lox), DV Alias Khrist, Swigga (Natural Elements) and his Knotz co-hort Dread Child. Speaking on those collabos, Mikal related “I don’t use features to enhance my tracks or push sales. I like to tap artists that I know will push me to raise my bars.” Production on the forthcoming album is handled by Charon, Vinny Idol,DonWill and Dread Child.
Hailing from the mountains of PA, The Knotz have been quietly building a reputation across the globe as keepers of the gritty boom-bap 90’s sound. Speaking on their roots, he said “It’s funny but when we started here, there was no scene and we were grinding. Over time, a lot of NY cats like Kool G Rap, Domingo, Billy Danze (M.O.P) and Cormega moved to the area, now the Poconos is a tour stop on everyone’s east coast run.”
In addition to the solo album, The Knotz are finishing up their long awaiting full-length project with Young Zee (The Outsidaz).

Fresh from recovery of major knee surgery, Call Me Unique utilised the recovery time to reflect on her time spent away from music. It’s been a long time coming that her skills within production were to be revealed, and what better than a track that perfectly explains her observations of the world and the people within it. The song chorus repeats a mantra that aims to encourage and inspire others with hope of happiness and yet the introduction humorously highlights the trend of “Woke” youth.
Whatever way you look at it, the song is a great way to chill out and meditate.

Be-troit is an exchange project between the cities of Berlin and Detroit during which 16 different artists (slam poetry, rap, singing, beatmaking) came together in Detroit in 2016 in order to unleash creative vibes resulting in creative outputs which far surpassed their wildest imaginations.
Through the different genres, styles, backgrounds, experiences, age and ethnic make up of the group this collective created a full length album in a time span of merely 10 days. Influenced by contemporary and historic happenings and trends in these two cities they found common ground and subject matters on which to work on. This film documents these 10 days and represents the visual priming coat for the album ‘Be-troit’.
