Village Live Records presents their fifth record and third full length LP ‘Deep Into The Forest’ by Funkonami: a rich and organic tapestry of the toughest instrumental Hip Hop.

Residing in the city of Athens Greece, Funkonami has been busy in the lab crafting this 90s infused masterpiece which Village Live have taken great care to bring to you in the physical formats of vinyl, tape and CD. Fourteen tracks deep, produced entirely with an E-mu sp1200, AKAI s950, Ensoniq EPS16+ and programmed with an AKAI MPC1000 the listener is presented with all the gritty warmth of Hip Hop’s golden era.

Strong Island rhyme duo Hus Kingpin and Smoovth have released a new album this week. ‘H.NI.C’ (which stands for Hempstead N****s In Charge) is twelve tracks deep of potent East Coast emceeing and bumping beats.

Somewhat as a dedication to the original ‘H.N.I.C’ album from Prodigy (Mobb Deep) Big Twins and Godfather Pt 3 of Infamous Mobb guest on the album. Other guests include Planet Asia, Rasheed Chappell, Rozewood, Sageinfinite, Montage One, Al Divino, Supreme Cerebral and Recognize Ali. Production is held down by Twiz The Beat Pro, Giallo Point and Wun Two among others.

Longtime partners in rhyme Hus, Smoovth and their Winners Circle crew have been releasing a barrage of real hip-hop singles, EP’s and albums over the past few years.

Recent collaborators have also included Roc Marciano, Vinnie Paz (Jedi Mind Tricks) and Durag Dynasty among others. The album can be purchased now via Bandcamp here

Nice set from DJ Traps (USA) as he places 3rd at DMC World DJ Championships 2016, whereas a lot more routines these days have a EDM feel to them, this one has what I would call a ‘throwback’ or possibly even ‘classic’ vibe to it, probably why I enjoyed it so much. Performance filmed live at the O2 Forum Kentish Town, Saturday 24th September.
