Mr Melta & Remulak – Snap Out of It’ EP [Review/Album Release] @MrMelta @Remulakbeats

snapoutofit

So here we have Mr Melta and Remulak dropping the Snap Out Of It e.p. Emcee and producer respectively. I’m gonna try and explain the brilliant slice of hip hop they’ve made here. It can really be a tricky thing to get across just how good certain releases are. Snap out of it is a fantastic collection. It’s dope. It’s heavy. It’s sick. It’s really good. Seriously though it really is. Chilled out from the start, it’s unaggressive nature captured me.

Poetic and honest Mr Melta is very relatable. With his laid back style he just has you hanging off his words. You can feel his confidence and passion on every track, with his descriptive lyrics and story telling making him more than just another rapper wanting attention. This was actually my first time hearing him but it shall now certainly not be the last.
He absolutely smashes the track ‘troubling times’. Remulak is a very original producer. On ‘Snap Out Of It’ he’s created beats that perfectly compliment Mr Melta’s style. Simple but excellent, they aren’t your typically churned out boombap beats. No doubt he could make many other rappers releases much more interesting as well.

Something I really like about the release is the story behind it. Polar entity and Remulak heard Mr Melta online and really liked him, got in contact and the two made a track, which then progressed into making this E.P. That’s awesome. The organic nature of this E.P is what hip-hop is about.
So again it’s sick, it’s heavy, and it’s dope. I really enjoyed it and look forward to more from both these guys separately or dually.

You can now get ‘Snap Out Of It’ via Rhymepad Records as either a download, or limited edition physical copy.

El Gant (feat. GGDT) – Five One Eight (prod. by JOAT) #Single

Posted by hiphoplifeandtimes on March 14, 2014
Posted in: Downloads. Leave a comment

Though his last feature came in July of 2013 (with I Love Me), El Gant has not lost a step; like, at all. On “Five One Eight,” Gant rips into the beat with a spry, cutting flow that is the perfect delivery method for his brash, crudely witty lyrics. Joining him atop the brisk, cut-laden beat from JOAT is GGDT, who displays a similarly hard-hitting approach. Their flows are perfectly matched to the record’s aggressive tone. It all adds up to a cut that grabs you and doesn’t let go.

Beast Academy which becomes available on CD and digital download on June 10th of this year, is produced entirely by JOAT (Jack Of All Trades) and includes guest appearances from Chris Webby, Ill Bill, Torae, El Da Sensei, Infinity Gauntlet, and more.. stay tuned!

Westbay (feat. @TroyAve) “High End” (Produced by tC) #Single @Wesbay

We all know someone who’s got champagne taste on a 40oz. budget. They love to spin a story of popping bottles, but couldn’t loan you a few bucks for a MetroCard. While it’s cool to flex in a nice ride or a new pair of kicks, there’s no substitute for the grind. Although social media has allowed us to be viewed in the light we choose, the world wide web doesn’t pull any punches when it comes to your cash flow. Backed by a haunting violin sample and banging drum section produced by tC, “High End” from newcomer Westbay and fellow Brooklynite Troy Ave, have the Kings County duo speaking on what it takes to make it to the top. Full of direct lines that call out those who never “wanna earn their strips, they just wanna act hard, talk tough, but they never wanna fight,” the track serves as a hustler’s anthem that’ll appeal to fans of dope rhymes and tough beats. “High End” is set to be featured on Westbay’s forthcoming album, ‘Spread Love’.. stay tuned!

Raised by the park of hard knocks, Brooklyn native Westbay attributes his upbringing to his third parent; the blue collar neighborhood of Marine Park. The park, the handball courts, and a familiar milk crate at more BBQ’s than he can remember, were sites of a series of firsts; first date, first beer, first fight. Feeling like he’s seen enough and done enough, Westbay is ready to share his stories and advice for his fans so they may follow suit, or at least learn from his mistakes.

Since joining cyphers at 13 with the older teenagers, and putting words to a beat in his friend’s bedroom, rapping has become more than a way to get girls and impress friends. Westbay has since moved on from his battle rapping days, but nevertheless, there’s no denying his presence on the mic. Nowadays, rhyming has become a vehicle for Westbay to balance the harm caused by the likes of Teen Mom and Worldstar fanatics. By taking a trip down memory lane, and channeling the memories he’s amassed from the park that has sat across from his childhood home, Westbay is here to prove that Hip-Hop is alive and well in the other side of Brooklyn.
