It’s fair to say there’s a LOT of rappers about now, to me they fall into three categories – those who want to be rappers and are shit at it! Those who want to be rappers and are good at it and those who ARE rappers. The third category being the most naturally talented artists who clearly are meant for it. Three Headed Beast find themselves in this third space. Collectively and singularly. Yes it’s pretty safe to say I am a fan but I think with the release of this new ‘Self Driven’ EP, they’ve proven why I think such things.

If you’re unfamiliar with this group it consists of Jinxsta JX, Twizzy and M.A.B. three emcees who can craft lyrics and flow like not too many can. Each of them has their own individual style immediately apparent from the first track on ‘Self Driven’. Jinxsta with his calm (well calmest of the three ha) style, dropping bar after bar. Twizzy with his unpredictable style keeping you listening hard. M.A.B with maybe the hypest energetic style you’ll hear spitting venom.

Obviously, their depth is vaster than these brief analytics but I just wanted to stress the difference of these guys to each other. Although they fit together perfectly as a single three headed beast.

If you like your hip hop original and natural ‘Self Driven’ is for you.  Telling tales of real lives with families and struggles that we can almost all identify with. Repping Abnoxshuz Entertainment they are really adding to a promising movement with this EP. Brash, cocky and confident from start to finish its sure to gain them new listeners. And deservedly so because With ‘Self Driven’ they’ve upped their game.

It kept me nodding my head and gassing at bars and flows throughout, never letting up or getting boring. Devoid of shallow fake bullshit it’s for real listeners who want someone with something to say. Whether it’s the state of hip hop, the daily grind, troublesome younger days or temptation and excess. With production from Fingerfood, Dilligent Fingers, Strange Neighbour and more cementing ‘Self Driven’ together as a very, very good release!!

I’ll be bumping this EP a lot! I highly suggest you do too, it’s free to stream and download so what more can I say to convince you? All in all heavy collection of songs. The future is bright for these guys and they are releasing an album later this year that’s sure to be one to look forward to judging from ‘Self Driven’.
