take5-2

I always look forward to new music from these guys, Millennium Jazz Music present ‘Take 5.2 with Dave Brubeck’ by The Jazz Jousters production collective as they break their eight month silence with this tribute which they dropped to the great American Jazz pianist and composer, Dave Brubeck on his fourth memorial day – 6th December 1920 – 5th December 2012.

The word was put out to some of the usual suspects from the collective and also a few new beat heads were invited to do one of their old skool style ‘lab off’ sessions. Sit back, relax and vibe out to the dope sounds of The Jazz Jousters as they have delivered yet another project of quality (This saved me from a complete meltdown wrapping Christmas presents this morning!). Have a listen for yourself here the album is a free download/pay what you like digital only release on Bandcamp.

Be on the look out for the start of the Jousters fifth season with the start of a new Locations series. The first session will be Locations: USA dropping in February on limited vinyl and cassette tape. Pre-orders coming soon!!

OptiMystic Ft. ONYX & JR – “MADD RUSH” #VIDEO @OptiMystic_MC @iamStickyFingaz @Fredro_Starr @NoCurePR

Posted by hiphoplifeandtimes on December 21, 2016
Posted in: Album Releases, Music Videos, News. Leave a comment

Australian emcee OptiMystic presents his new video “Madd Rush” which features Onyx & JR going in over the top of a Loftwah Beatsmiff production. Shot down under in Australia, the video also features appearances from the UK’s fire spittin bad girls… Pyrohex! The hardcore track is lifted from his double album; “Day of the Guiding Light / Followed by the shadow”.

OptiMystic has been manifesting dreams, making connections and spreading his vibe the only way he knows how… with raw love and hard-core positivity! His passion and extreme addiction to the art of rap has lead him on an amazing journey from childhood to the present moment. In 2005 he released his debut ‘ReVamp’ an independent release that featured Grammy award-winning superstar Speech from Arrested Development.

“Day of the Guiding Light / Followed by the shadow” showcases strictly hip hop vibrations pulsating throughout the double album, OptiMystic spits, rips and kicks a range of flows with variety and passion. The Two discs feature a light side, which is bursting with positive and uplifting anthems while the shadow sides grants Optimystic a platform to showcase his rawness. Other guest appearances on the LP include Sticky Fingaz, Fredro Starr, Afu Ra, Chip FU, Doitall, Mr Cheeks, Killah Priest, Das EFX, Rockness Monsta, Big Shug, Jeru the Damaja & more!

This conscious style rhymer delivers topics of love, death, addictions, the great unknown, and just straight up having fun on the mic. OptiMystic’s love knows no boundaries! So be prepared and stay aware, for if there ever was a time for this MC to be unearthed to the masses… it’s now!

Jam Baxter – ‘Teeth Marks’ (Prod @chemouk) OFFICIAL KARAOKE VIDEO @ActualJamBaxter @HighFocusUK

Posted by hiphoplifeandtimes on December 21, 2016
Posted in: Audio, Downloads, Music Videos, News. Leave a comment

High Focus Records’ first ever official karaoke video for ‘Teeth Marks’. Earlier this year High Focus Records sent Jam Baxter on a jet plane to the other side of the world to work on a new album with producer extraordinaire Chemo, who had recently relocated there. Upon his arrival, Jam Baxter checked into his temporary residence for the duration of his stay, called Mansion 38, of which his forthcoming album is named after. After a crazy 2 month stay, the duo have created a unique masterpiece, which picks up where the critically acclaimed ‘…so we ate them whole‘ left off.

It seems right that Jam Baxter’s two favourite tracks from the forthcoming ‘Mansion 38’ album, ‘Teeth Marks‘ & ‘Soi 36‘ be combined into a singular item, limited to 500 copies never to be repressed. This limited edition hand numbered seven inch vinyl has been officially released today and is available to purchase from the High Focus Store, all good digital platforms and Bandcamp.

In Jam Baxter’s own words:  ‘I’d completely lost the plot by this point in my trip. Too many late ones in Mansion 38. Shot in Dak Lak, Vietnam. Feel free to drown out my voice with your own using the handy singalong feature’.

Incidentally, the location for the ‘Teeth Marks’ video shoot doubles as the location for the iconic photo used for the ‘Mansion 38’ album cover which can be seen below for the very first time!
