Applied Science are Hip Hop duo; Beat-maker/turntablist DJ Alkemy and MC Pun-Ra. The Newport, Wales based group combine their love of good music and good times bringing nothing but Blues influenced Boom Bap beats expertly peppered with razor sharp cuts/scratching and lyrical slaughter.
‘Booze, Blues & Hip-Hop’ was born from the duo’s shared love of Rhythm & Blues (REAL Rhythm & Blues), Hip-Hop and of course, beer. Written and recorded over the course of 14 months the album features the likes of Rob Kelly, Joe Dirt (Squid Ninjaz), Junior Disprol (Dead Residents etc), BeSpoken (JuggaNote, K.O.B, Red Dragon Gang), Jigster & Urban Legends. This episode of VladTV’s True Hip Hop Stories features R.A. the Rugged Man sharing an encounter that one of his friends had in the studio with Biggie Smalls. The New York rapper says his man, who Biggie named “Malt,” got drunk after downing four 40 oz bottles of malt liquor and started getting wild.
According to R.A., Malt asked B.I.G. to slap him in the face to wake him up, but the Brooklyn rapper was unsure about hitting him. After asking again, Biggie smacked him up and the guy’s face started bleeding, so the “Hypnotize” rapper sent one of his Junior M.A.F.I.A. crew out to get Malt another beer.
