15 year old rapper Token is back with his highly anticipated debut music video, “Talk To You.” The Boston Hip Hop prodigy tells a story about a teenage girl who posts revealing pictures of herself on social media as a way of seeking attention. The lyrics are vivid and poignant, encouraging women of all ages to think before they post something; which is even more relevant after the recent celebrity iCloud leaks.
The video is shot and directed by fellow high school classmate Blake Z Larson.
SoundSkool is based in the London Borough of Barnet but welcome students from any other boroughs. They offer free music courses at Level 1 and 2 in ‘Artist Development & Performance’ and ‘Music Production & Business’.
Courses run for the full academic year and involve 2.5 days of tuition per week. Bursaries are available to help students with travel costs and lunch.
All the courses incorporate the following qualifications:
OCR Functional Skills in English and Maths
RSL Vocational L1 or L2 certificates with pathways in Music Performance or Technology (GCSE equivalent A-D) NCFE award in Personal and Social Development.
For those students who may not receive the grades they were expecting or are NEET, this alternative pathway in music education may be for them.
“Infinite/Finite (Man Comes Around)” is the first song off of MC Bravado’s Johnny Cash Tribute/Conceptual EP “Walk the Line.” The track features Soul Khan of the Brown Bag All-Stars as well as production from Militant Marxman and a guest appearance from C-Nature, both of MC Bravado’s own Cypher Junkies crew. Its release date (September 12) marked the 11 year anniversary of Johnny Cash’s passing.
The song addresses Johnny Cash’s spirituality as well the premise of “if the gates were to open tomorrow, would you be on the outside looking in?” It sheds light on the ambiguous line of morality that we all walk as people and candidly speaks upon the pros as well as the potential pitfalls of organized religion; despite the song’s heavy subject matter, it contains quite a bit of humor as well.
You can expect the first video off of the project in a couple weeks and the “Walk the Line” EP itself on October 13 (the same day Cash was inducted into the CMA Hall of Fame) on Bandcamp.
