As with any compilation of Hip Hop based in Scotland you expect it to include as much different sounds and styles, alongside more seasoned performers and new acts involved in putting music together. This mixtape covers it all.

Featuring new and lesser known acts such as Yah and Lil Mac alongside the more well known guys such as Damaged Goodz, Mog & Chad The Lad. This should serve the newer fans as an introduction to some of these acts and quench their thirst for Hip Hop in Scotland. And for the more “In The Know” fan features some exclusive tracks and pre-releases you won’t have heard.

A discussion based event that looks at the issues in the UK hip hop industry (or lack of) and seeks to find ways to address them. We have the power to come together to build up our own industry & take control of what is essentially ours. How do we build it? What do we need to do? What can Birmingham do?

A sharing of ideas, networking, discussion & most importantly, ACTION! The event will be filmed and streamed live online, making it open to the UK & beyond. Guest speakers include Malik from MD7, Big Ted, Sic’nis & Colin Rox of Four Pillars London. So all artists (aspiring & established), label owners, promoters and supporters of the scene come down to the Rep theatre, Broad Street Birmingham On Jan 24th 2015 to share your ideas, frustrations and solutions to help this industry! There’s a reason why the teacher and student relationship has stood the test of time. It’s a bond that has been throughly documented in texts such as Robert Greene’s Mastery; from The Odyssey to The Karate Kid, this dynamic has become commonplace in all art forms. Naturally, it would not take long for this relationship to find it’s way into the world of Hip-Hop. Between Jay Z and Kanye West, Dr. Dre and Eminem, and Large Professor and Nas, it’s no surprise that this model breeds greatness.

While KRS-One and Torae haven’t cemented that connection just yet, “Klick Clique” could be the start of something new. Linking the Teacha with Da Young Veteran, the track serves as a reminder that the underground sound is alive and well. As both emcees ride DJ JS-1’s supplied production; KRS with his consonance heavy bars and Torae with his lyrical gymnastics.
