The meeting of musical minds that is Cyclonious – The Natural Disaster and Duby Intelligent has produced The Army of Two. Bringing a beat battle to your eardrums, both rappers have a history of lyrical artistry and intense street knowledge which makes their forthcoming EP a must for any true rap fan.
With a respect for each others styles, both artists decided to collaborate on a solid EP covering all ground, the result being The Army Of Two. With every track produced by Cyclonious, his inspiration came from the title, wanting to make music ‘from the trenches’ i.e. right in the thick of the action, raw and hard hitting. Tracks like Sun Up Til Sun Down and What It Is are examples of that unapologetic sound.
His seventh release, Cyclonious’ lyrical history includes producing and writing some of the most underrated UK hip hop. On anything from relationships to political point of views, his delivery is always sharp street poetry. An artist to watch out for, Duby Intelligent is exactly as his name suggests – a rapper who seeks to educate with his hardcore yet thought out lyrics. This is his first EP with undoubtedly more to come.

‘Smash Anything’ is the latest mixtape from Skuff. It’s a heavy hitter, and has the lyrics and production to back that statement up. This serves as a prelude to Skuff’s album ‘Destroy Everything’ which should be released later this year. Whilst you’re waiting you can quench ya thirst with this solid jam. For fans fans of Dirty Dike, Ed Scissortongue, Dr Syntax and all that good stuff. It’s name your own price so give this man some of your rubies and jewels.

This was sent to us a week or so ago but being there’s only a couple of us running this, sometimes and unfortunately it takes us a little extra time to get them up. Although we always get them up! I was going to write a little jibber jabber about this track, but MC Iris’ friends said it all perfectly. Rest in peace and God bless. It’s a sick track and needs to be spread around.
All Day and All Night is a previously unreleased gem from Brighton based MC Iris. The original track was a never completed collaboration with his good friend and well known UK producer 184 recorded in 20__ . Jake Crockett aka Iris lost his life in a car crash in August 2011 at the tender age of 26. He was a much loved and highly respected person and a talented MC, producer and engineer to boot.
184 came across this track at the end of last year and after playing it to a few people close to Jake felt that it was a great example of the type of music he made. The raps featured on this track are a typical slice of Iris’ no nonsense, heart felt approach to songwriting, dropping defiant and aggressive bars underpinned with a strong sense of self and a positive message.
In addition to the original mix, included here are 2 remixes from veteran UK producers Lewis Parker and Evil Ed. Posthumous releases are a tricky thing to get right, but Jake was a fan of both beat makers, and we’re pretty sure that he would have been pleased with the results. Hopefully this release and the added weight of the production talent involved will serve as a lasting reminder of what Jake was all about as an artist.
Alongside longtime collaborator Mole, he had released 2 well received EP’s – Mole and Iris – An Introduction (2006) and Clouds (2009), and was a permanent fixture at live shows, open mics and battles around Brighton in the early – mid 2000’s. He was also an accomplished producer and engineer. He is much loved and missed by his family and friends.
Our friends at Standup Recordz (home to Split Prophets, Ratson and Lloydz to name but a few) have now opened their online store. This means not only can you listen to good music, you can always look good too. Ever concerned about your current street steez with your crew, and making sure you have clothes to wear, SUR have put up hoodies, and t-shirts with the record label’s logo and some of their featured artists. Here’s two of the new apparel, go have a look and support independent music, Nike have enough of your money.

If there’s one country that rarely gets mentioned in relation to the larger hip-hop community, I’d say Portugal probably falls within the top 20. With that in mind, how’d you fancy a free album from Portuguese MC, Likido? He’s a MC/producer and sights J Dilla, DJ Premier, Nina Simone and John Coltrane as some of his influences. You can’t fuck with a list like that so get those little potes of yours a clicking. Besides you know Hispanic rappers sound so much cooler than us silly English speakers.
You can download it for free yes, but help a brother keep his lights on and buy the record if you like it.

NEW video from Midlands emcee Reggiimental. The track and video for ‘Touch’ featuring Trawr is something a little bit different from what we’ve come to expect from Reggiimental, but is still dope nonetheless and the video comes with big visuals reminicent of the film ‘Tron’ and defenitley worth a look. Video Directed and Edited by Adam Awni.
Swift Kirabo is a rapper from Manchester, and this is the net video for his soulful track ‘Pray’. The video is Directed by Oliver Hayes
