New video from Luc Skyz and Kay Martay. You may remember Kay Martey as Mr Drastick, “Mr Drastick once was a name which suited me. Now I don’t feel like a Mr Drastick. I feel like myself. Kay is my family nickname, Martay is my surname. Simple. I wasn’t feeling having a name which isn’t who I am any more”.
Kay goes on to speak about the video “I had to create a video for this song. It’s a few years old so Luc Skyz wasn’t too keen on it but I forced him to let me shoot it. We shot it late night in the rain at the same location we shot our last collaborative video ‘Nothing Wrong’. That’s what you call dedication.”
Track taken off of Luc Sky’s ‘War Of The Worlds’ EP. Free download here: http://www.mediafire.com/?47f25csn22j22ws

Raised in Harlem and The Bronx, Def Jef received his first true start when he relocated to Los Angeles and was discovered by Delicious Vinyl in the late 1980s. The influence of NYC hip-hop’s old school had tagged along however. Jef’s debut album Just A Poet With Soul didn’t match the worldwide commercial success of his Delicious Vinyl label mates Young MC and Tone-Loc, but jams like “Droppin’ Rhymes On Drums” (which employs the late Etta James on vocals), “God Made Me Funky” and “Give It Here” made it a stand-out favorite on the left coast at the time. Jef, alongside trusty hit-makers The Dust Brothers, is at his most interesting and conscious on the excellent socio-political offerings “Black To The Future” and “Downtown”, but even when it comes to his more standard NYC bred-braggin’ & boastin’ style of rhymes, “Poet With Soul” is just as exhilarating and relentlessly funky.
