Sampling breaks is at the core of Hip Hop music and played a crucial role in it’s foundation and development. The Buy Records video project shows a brief insight into the process of how vinyl is traditionally sampled in the production of Hip Hop. It follows UK producer Mr. Brown while out digging for records, then at his studio chopping up a sample and making a beat.
Whether you buy an old used record for 50p or a freshly pressed new release, help support independent music and keep vinyl alive. Buy Records.
The finished track by Mr. Brown will be available to buy on vinyl in the not too distant future, but for now you can download it; http://dephect.com/audio/mr-brown-hub-wish
Filmed and edited by Matt Drane from Dephect.

For those who haven’t heard of Fredfades, he’s a hip hop producer/DJ from Oslo, Norway. KingUnderground have been very lucky to add Fred to their growing roster of artists at KU and they have several releases planned to be released in 2013.
The first on the list is a project with Ivan Average (a Norwegian rapper & close friend of Fred’s) called “Breathe”, but before we give you anymore info on this here’s a little taster of what’s to come from Fredfades… You can now download for FREE, a remix project of some of Fred’s favourite songs. He has so many remixes and they could have put up at least 30 or so songs for you to download, but KU decided to pick out 6 of the best and leave the rest. Watch this space.
More info coming soon about the Fredfades & Ivan Average vinyl project: www.KingUnderground.com

Last week we gave you the trailer for this video, now we have the official video for the first single from the Sonnyjim & Kosyne debut EP “It’s About Time”, OUT NOW on FREE DOWNLOAD.
From two of the co-founders of EATGOOD Records comes their long awaited debut EP “It’s About Time”. Sonnyjim & Kosyne have been sharing stages and trading rhymes together from way before either of them had made a dent on the hiphop scene.
It’s taken until now for the duo to put out a formal project for no other reason than time itself (as the title suggests). Since his introduction to the scene Sonny has risen up the ranks as one of the UK’s hardest working wordsmiths releasing a barrage of premium material year in year out. Kosyne (despite his roots as a solo artist) had spent the last few years spearheading the world renouned Louis Den movement and co-producing the beatmaker driven DVD series “Behind Closed Doors”.
Sonnyjim and Kosyne formally hit the studio last year to start work on their long awaited EP; having been an idea since the pair first started working together they got in the lab and the project quickly took shape.
The aim was to put together a slab of emcee centered tracks allowing them to get busy with flows, cadences and stylings while still belting out well constructed material. Assisting on a production tip are Fel Sweetenberg (NJ, USA) on two cuts and UK producers Apatight, Dag Nabit, Kelakovski and Jaisu. Guests include the infamous Foreign Beggars; fellow label mate Redbeard and vocalists Metamore and Dajuan.
6 tracks no filler, ill rhymes start to finish and FOR FREE as well!
This first version of the EP is a clean edit, be on the lookout for a retail version to feature bonus tracks and remixes!
