Fresh off of winning his very first Grammy with Tedeschi Trucks Band for Best Blues Album of the year in 2012 (Maurice was the horn arranger for the 11-piece ensemble), Maurice “Mobetta” Brown has also appeared on LP’s from Santigold, Ski Beatz, Prodigy, Talib Kweli, Cee-Lo, Diddy, Musiq Soulchild and countless others.
Maurice is prepping his latest release, Maurice vs Mobetta, or, rather, Maurice’s Jazz side versus his Hip-Hop persona. Maurice vs Mobetta features appearances from Talib Kweli, Consequence, Prodigy, Jean Grae and production from Fyre Dept, DJ Scratch and Maurice himself and its a mere sampling of what’s in-store on Maurice vs Mobetta; as Brown has more in store, not only on this new effort, but coming down the pike. Know that Maurice vs Mobetta is a gumbo sound lab for this dynamic young trumpet player-arranger-producer.

After the acclaimed success of the debut LP ‘Shame The Devil’ in 2012. Caxton Press are proud to announce the release of their debut single, comprised of two entirely new tracks due for general release on Sept 21st. Available on 12” vinyl and digital formats. “This Ain’t Living” b/w “Hunger”. Production comes from Faulty Clicks and Apollo [Champions of Nature] respectively. The release includes instrumentals & accapella’s of both tracks. Each track is accompanied by a video produced and directed by Globalfaction.
Caxton Press are a London based Hip Hop group consisting of two rappers Manage and eMCee Killa, alongside rapper/vocalist Amy True [voted best female Hip-Hop artist 2012 by Wordplay Magazine]. The group name derives from the frst printing press in England introduced by William Caxton during the 1400’s. Following the release of their debut album Shame The Devil in March 2012, Caxton Press have progressed very rapidly, having most certainly staked their claim amongst the UK Hip Hop scene, and firmly seeded a growing international fan base. Towards the end of 2012 the debut LP ‘Shame The Devil’ was voted ‘Best Hip Hop Album’ of 2012 by Wordplay Magazine in a their readers choice poll. Following that they were approached by the British Library to have the album submitted into their records for generations to come as part of their Sound and Culture exhibit.
Whilst in the process of recording their second album, Caxton Press have continued to stay active on the live circuit with their acclaimed stage shows backed by DJ Snuff and the 5-piece band Unexpected Guests. Headlining events across the country, as well as supporting honorary Hip Hop legends such as Immortal Technique, Jedi Mind Tricks, Ultramagnetic MC’s, People Under The Stairs and The Pharcyde, gaining many fans in the process including a certain man by the name of Chuck D when they supported Public Enemy at Koko, London. Chuck was so blown away by their performance he personally contacted the group to offer support. He had this to say about them on twitter:

The 2013 Championships launched on Saturday 14th September at the BPM show. This year we will feature 3 categories – Show, Technical & a new category – Scratch. The competition will close on Saturday October 26th.
Judging will not be by the public, however via IDA’s esteemed panel of global judges.

Show Category:
* This category contains both individual DJ’s and Teams.
* All DJ’s/Teams must present a 6 minute show. DJs are able to use effect tools,
beat machines, samplers, controllers musical instruments etc. The only rule is
to use at least one turntable during the whole set. DVS systems can be set in
any mode, ie they do not need to be set in “absolute”
* The important factor in the Show Category is that the competitors have to
present a set, that is close to an actual song. The main criterias in this
category are musicality and creativity.
* There is no battle mode in this category.
Technical Category:
* It is an ordinary adaptation to the Advancement Class. Record a 3 minute set
on video,
* In this 3 minutes, show the very best that you can be and incorporate
juggling, scratching and stage presence.
* The video must be shot in one take and show all gear being and ideally
including you behind the decks rather than just your hands.
* DVS systems are allowed. Cue points are allowed. Effects are not allowed.
Scratch Category:

* Each DJ will do a 2min scratch over the preselected Beat.
* Record your set in HD
* Allowed Equipment: Strictly Scratch Vinyl, No Cue-Points, No Effects,
Only Vinyl allowed, No Dicers
* Judging criteria: Musicality — Harmony of set, composition, Originality —
Creativity, Innovation, , Skills — Technical ability, Difficulty, Combos,
Patterns — Structure of set, Arrangements, Style — Stage Presence, Composure, Overall Impression
As well as getting prizes donated by their esteemed sponsors, the winners of the Show & Technical categories will be flown to Krakow, Poland as IDA UK & Ireland Champion to compete in the IDA World Finals. The winner of the Scratch category will progress into the Worldwide Eliminators stages, and the top four in the will proceed to the IDA World Online Final.
Thus a prerequisite to entering the battle is full GB/Irish passport (i.e. you must be a British/Irish citizen) and being able to go to Poland to attend the final on Saturday 7th December, so expect to travel possibly on Friday 6th December – that may means a day off work, college or even school.
