The Procussions are back with their new self-titled album! “The Procussions”
Rising from the LA underground rap scene to spearhead the rebirth of classic hip hop imprint, Rawkus Records, their sophomore album, “5 Sparrows For 2 Cents”, launched them onto the top of critics’ lists and tours around the world. Now, seven years later, Stro Elliot and Mr J. Medeiros have rejoined forces to create a truly powerful collection of timeless hip hop.
Inspired by a surge of interest following a 2012 reunion show, The Procussions created an Indiegogo campaign to fund a new album, reaching their goal within three days and finishing with nearly double. Funding in hand, Medeiros and Elliot went to work crafting an album that reflected their desire to both pay tribute to their deep hip hop roots and explore new sonic ground.
Fully produced by rapper and multi-instrumentalist Stro Elliot, “The Procussions” showcases a musical maturity and fearless diversity that goes well beyond the sample-and-a-loop simplicity of many hip hop artists. While the suave swing of “Today” (featuring Shad, and trumpeter J. Kyle Gregory), street-level grit of “Badges” (feat. ¡Mayday! & Phoenix Troy), and soul-soaked sounds of “DNA” echo the golden age nostalgia of kindred spirits like A Tribe Called Quest and The Roots, the hypnotic drum and guitar meditation of “Insomnia,” smooth A Capella pop of “On A Mountain” (featuring Logan), funky-drummer-fuelled fury of “Iron Vox,” and raw rock rhythms of “Phantasm” (featuring 20Syl of Hocus Pocus) reveal an uncanny ability to fuse the best of the boom bap era with harder edged modern pop and rock sensibilities.
LG featuring Young Kizer are from a hip hop group from Raleigh, NC, called Ill Individuals this is their latest track ‘Off Da Map’, Produced By $howtimeAJ.
Cee, is an emcee from Australia living in Canada, The Movement Fam’s Cee (MC/manager) and Alaiz’s Dr. MaD (producer/DJ) have an interesting story. They worked together via a chain of connections beginning with KevinNottingham.com back in 2009, without ever actually speaking. But when Cee moved to Montreal in 2012, the two finally connected in person. MaD made some beats with Cee in mind, and what was supposed to be just a brief collab quickly escalated into a full-scale EP entitled ‘Steps To The Peak’.
This project is an eight track love letter to the city of Montreal. It was entirely written, produced, recorded, shot and designed in the 514, with the exception of Notion’s mixing and mastering in Toronto. Dr. MaD’s production is enveloped in the art of sampling, with old Soul and Jazz tunes brought to life by his deft chops, dipping them in Hip Hop on the way out. Cee used this sonic landscape to tell real life stories about his experiences in Canada – leaving his home country of Australia to pursue a dream in the great wide north, the tumultuous move to Montreal, dealings with immigration, and his regular battles with fear, doubt and negative energy. Ultimately, it’s a story of two artists connecting through the love of music in order to express their ‘amour’ for the city, the country and the culture of Hip Hop.

Today see’s the long awaited release from Chicago Producer Rediculus and UK based emcee Fdot1 aka Flo. We’ve been fans of both these dudes in their own right so when we heard there was a project coming from the duo we were hyped here at HHL&T.
This project came into being about 6 months ago, shortly after Rediculus’ mother passed and he was reflecting on where life was taking him. He made a bunch of beats in the weeks after that really resonated with him which he knew would be use to provide a cohesive project showing what being dedicated to the things in your life means. I reached out to FDot1 as I felt that he is the perfect MC to deliver those stories as his writing and his dedication to the culture is boundless.
For real both Rediculus and Fdot1 are truly ‘Dedicated’ to their craft as demonstrated on this joint and shows why we feature them so often here on HHL&T as this project lives up to all our expectations. ‘Dedicated’ is a 5 song EP that showcases clever wordplay spit by wordsmith Fdot1 over original boom bap influenced production provided by Rediculus.
