Born and breed in Brooklyn, NY, but currently residing overseas, Stimulus is a member of the well-known live band The Real Live Show and has had his music featured on Showtime, a Pontiac TV commercial as well as esteemed sites such as Hypetrak.com, Okayplayer.com, Urb.com, Potholesinmyblog.com, frank151.com and fusicology.com.
In addition to being a member of The Real Live Show, Stimulus’ diversity as an emcee, producer and DJ has been exhibited previously on 3rd 1st Impression, a collaborative mixtape he released in 2011 with Chris “Daddy” Dave (some may know Chris as the drummer for Mos Def, others know him as Maxwell’s Grammy-winning producer, and still others know his as a key component in the jazz/hip-hop group The Robert Glasper Experiment and for producing tracks for Maxwell and Dr. Dre) which featured Stim working alongside Bilal and Stokley of Mint Condition.
More recently, Stimulus and Bora Uzer created Analog People, who released their first single, We Are Analog People,” in August 2014 and they just wrapped up a tour where they performed 59 shows in 61 days.
While you can currently see Outkast’s Andre 3000 channeling his “inner-Jimi” on the silver screen in All Is By My Side) Stimulus takes things to a new level with his new passion project, Stimmi Hendrix, which features Stim interpolating some of his favorite Jimi Hendrix tracks (with a Brooklyn touch)!
“I decided to produce this project because of how much Hendrix has meant to me as an artist. I discovered Jimi Hendrix when I started looking up sampling credits of hip hop songs. I saw his name in the credits of Pharcyde’s “Passin Me By” and went from there. I ended buying as much of his catalog as possible. Listening to Are You Experienced in my dorm room in High School, I was hooked immediately and stopped listening to anything else. I hope this project introduces more people to his work as well as the work of other artists he influenced” Stimulus states.
