As 2014 comes to a close and the number of indie “rappers” increases, Devine Carama decided to drop some gems for upcoming rappers by remaking Biggie’s classic “10 Crack Commandments” with his own version entitled “10 Blog Commandments”. This serves as a do’s & don’t’s tutorial for MCs submitting their music to Hip Hop blogs & websites (Take notes!!) This track was inspired by the late great Hip Hop proprietor and good friend to us here at HHLAT Patrick McNease aka Praverb The Wyse. (RIP homie)

Devine explains “Being an older MC that fell in love with the culture during the golden era, I’ve come to grips that the game has changed. The way artists expand their reach and connect with more fans has evolved. One major change has been the Internet and Hip Hop blogs play a huge role in that evolution. As an indie artist, I’ve learned the hard way in how I should submit my music to blogs & websites. Some of that knowledge came from trial & error but a lot of that knowledge came from my friend Praverb The Wyse. So in the spirit of keeping his legacy alive, I wanted to drop some knowledge for other up & coming MCs like he dropped knowledge on me!”

London Alt Hip Hop duo Subculture Sage self-release the stream and FREE DOWNLOAD of their new single, ‘Chances’.

Following their debut EP this summer, Subculture Sage have emerged as one of the most hyped new UK Hip Hop acts. Exploring their diverse musical backgrounds from Dancehall and Latin, through Jazz, Grime, Jungle and Soul; the London producer/lyricist duo, hot-tipped as leading a new UK Hip Hop renaissance, have garnered support from key tastemakers including Zane Lowe, Complex, Majestic Casual, Pigeons & Planes, Rob Da Bank, Mixmag, Clash, Mahogany, SBTV and many more.

Scheduled for self-release this December and inspired by a nostalgically festive Johnny Mathis sample, ‘Chances’ was born from months of late night conversations between the duo discussing recent breakups, love and the meandering search for happiness. Producer Subculture Sounds creates a caramel-smooth soulful track with an old school vibe, whilst lyricist Hypeman Sage talks of the circle of love, society and that perhaps “love is more about pain than it seems”.

‘Chances’ is a timely gift for Subculture Sage’s fans as the duo continue to show their commitment to a DIY ethic of releasing music. It was XFM London’s X-POSURE HOT TRACK OF THE WEEK and was mixed and mastered at Firehouse Studios, responsible for recording many of the early Wu-Tang, Gang Starr and Das EFX records.
