The Book Thieves are pleased to have their 4th release out on Boom Bap Professionals. It is the first time the group have joined forces with an independent record label to create what they consider their best work to date. Since the release of ‘In Spite of Everything…’ and ‘Why Do We Do This Everyday?’, The Book Thieves have been well reviewed in Wordplay Magazine and numerous online music blogs.
Last year, they were proud to perform at Boom Bap Festival, and have since performed in many different towns and cities across England from Bristol to Skegness. The Book Thieves have also played abroad after a tour to Luxembourg. Most recently, the Book Thieves supported Dead Prez at the Oxford O2.
‘Getting Close to Midnight’ continues the theme of memory, nostalgia and loss in the lives of both rappers. From evaluating everyday life in Cross Fire, to analysing the concept of being a rapper today in Written on the Wall, The Book Thieves explain that ‘Getting Close to Midnight’ is an awareness that a day, or a party, or a life, at some point comes close to its end.
The EP features label mate Luca Brazi & Benofficial and features production from Fredo, Mafegi, Kaloo, Nephyu, Skratch Zilla & Sam Zircon.
‘Getting Close to Midnight‘ is out now at Bandcamp, iTunes and all good digital retailers.
