Mean Business Media in association with the Moon Club, Cardiff are putting on the First Welsh Beatbox Championships on January 17th 2015.
The event in line with other national beatbox events will showcase up and coming performers giving them the chance to gain exposure and recognition as well as stand them in good stead to represent Wales on the World stage.
Hosted by Radio Cardiff presenter/Hip Hop artist Oort Kuiper, judging the championships will be; longtime veteran beatboxer and owner of global beatboxing website Humanbeatbox.com Gavin ‘Beatbox’ Tyte, along with current Irish Beatbox Champion; 16 year old Jay ‘Scorch’ Underwood, professional beatboxers/performers ‘Sid FX’, Ed ‘Mr Phormula’ Holden and Cardiff’s own ‘Beatbox Fozzy’.
The event is to be held at one of the Welsh capital’s most vibrant independent live music venues The Moon/Full Moon Club, and will be part of the venue’s month long “Free For All Festival” held throughout January each year.
The event is to be run as a not-for-profit event relying on donations with all contributions etc going towards promotion, prizes and towards the 2016 Championships.
This will be the first event of this scale in Wales and follows after the recent success of the Irish Championships earlier this year. The event itself will run throughout the day on Saturday 17th January, with a showcase and after party in the evening.
