So here we have Mr Melta and Remulak dropping the Snap Out Of It e.p. Emcee and producer respectively. I’m gonna try and explain the brilliant slice of hip hop they’ve made here. It can really be a tricky thing to get across just how good certain releases are. Snap out of it is a fantastic collection. It’s dope. It’s heavy. It’s sick. It’s really good. Seriously though it really is. Chilled out from the start, it’s unaggressive nature captured me.
Poetic and honest Mr Melta is very relatable. With his laid back style he just has you hanging off his words. You can feel his confidence and passion on every track, with his descriptive lyrics and story telling making him more than just another rapper wanting attention. This was actually my first time hearing him but it shall now certainly not be the last.
He absolutely smashes the track ‘troubling times’. Remulak is a very original producer. On ‘Snap Out Of It’ he’s created beats that perfectly compliment Mr Melta’s style. Simple but excellent, they aren’t your typically churned out boombap beats. No doubt he could make many other rappers releases much more interesting as well.
Something I really like about the release is the story behind it. Polar entity and Remulak heard Mr Melta online and really liked him, got in contact and the two made a track, which then progressed into making this E.P. That’s awesome. The organic nature of this E.P is what hip-hop is about.
So again it’s sick, it’s heavy, and it’s dope. I really enjoyed it and look forward to more from both these guys separately or dually.
You can now get ‘Snap Out Of It’ via Rhymepad Records as either a download, or limited edition physical copy.
Words-Adam
Though his last feature came in July of 2013 (with I Love Me), El Gant has not lost a step; like, at all. On “Five One Eight,” Gant rips into the beat with a spry, cutting flow that is the perfect delivery method for his brash, crudely witty lyrics. Joining him atop the brisk, cut-laden beat from JOAT is GGDT, who displays a similarly hard-hitting approach. Their flows are perfectly matched to the record’s aggressive tone. It all adds up to a cut that grabs you and doesn’t let go.
Beast Academy which becomes available on CD and digital download on June 10th of this year, is produced entirely by JOAT (Jack Of All Trades) and includes guest appearances from Chris Webby, Ill Bill, Torae, El Da Sensei, Infinity Gauntlet, and more.. stay tuned!
