The latest release from the consistantly quality UK label Revorg Records is ‘Hot Water Music’ from label founders TPS Fam (Strange Neighbour, Jack Diggs and Big Toast).
The album is a vivid and honest depiction of life in modern Britain, with themes such as work (and the mundane grind most find themselves in), money issues and fatherhood.
With raw boom bap style beats, provided throughout by crew members The Strange Neighbour and Jack Diggs (apart from the outro, produced by 184), providing the backdrop, the crew effortlessly weave tales of modern life in Britain for the working man, and woman, who dreams of more.
It is a credit to the crew that the honesty and vividness of the lyrics keep the listener nodding in agreement, as well as to the beats.
Tracks such as ‘Monday Blues’ and ‘Tea Break’ describe the ups and downs that come with working a job you hate, while ‘5 Nuggets’ and ‘Pay Day’, highlight the crews love of intoxication and the need to escape from the mundanity of life.
Throughout the album the crew inject humour in to the sometimes sombre subject matters, and a well selected and balanced list of features ( including label mate Efeks, Dat Kid, Sir Plus, Res, Phoenix Da Icefire and Dark Circle) means that this is another well rounded, lyrically and musically tight release from what is steadily becoming a label, and crew, to keep your eyes and ears on!
