Soundcrash are proud to present, undoubtably one of the biggest shows of 2014!
Mos Def and Talib Kweli who form Black Star and J.Rocc fly in from the states to form one hell of a line up at The Forum, London on 29 March! Support from none other than the DJs favourite DJ, Mr Thing and very special guests soon to be announced. A rare hip hop event and the hottest stage of the year…
Talib Kweli and Yasiin Bey aka Mos Def are BLACK STAR.
BLACK STAR rose from the underground movement of the late 1990s and released one album “Mos Def & Talib Kweli are Black Star” in 1998. The album rose to critical acclaim and is praised as one of the greatest hip-hop albums of our time. Black Star has continued to help shape underground alternative hip-hop and bring it further into the mainstream eye. Both have gone on to greater commercial and critical success in separate solo careers. Although they have only released one album, throughout the years Black Star has stayed active. Talib Kweli & Yasiin Bey (Formally Mos Def) have appeared on each others albums and various other tracks together.
One of the original turntablists, J.ROCC founded the Beat Junkies in 1992 with Melo-D and Rhettmatic, but has done just as much on his own as in a group setting. He began DJing in the mid-’80s with a California group named PSK. Soon after forming, the Beat Junkies became a seminal force in the rise of instrumental hip-hop, including core member Babu plus future stars Shortkut and D-Styles. In addition to numerous mixtapes and his own production for Stones Throw releases, J. Rocc has been the DJ for Madlib’s live shows since the early 2000′s, was the 3rd member of Jaylib (Madlib & J Dilla) during the group’s live events, and collaborated with Madlib on Beat Konducta Vol. 5-6: A Tribute to J Dilla.
Former Scratch Perverts member and DMC Scratch Champion MR THING will also be doing his thing on the night, playing all your favourite hip hop, old school beats and breaks: the flavour of choice from the prolific London DJ… THING ‘s world class reputation sees him touring and performing with the likes of legendary DJ Jazzy Jeff, Marley Marl, Beastie Boys, DJ Premier + Slum Village. You know he’ll smash it.
In 2011 Kweli said, “I would love to get back into it whenever he’s ready.” That time is now. This is a very special one off London show. Don’t miss out.

After releasing his highly acclaimed debut album “The Résumé” in 2010 with high caliber features like Slum Village, Royce Da 5’9, Mic Geronimo and Oddisee, Danish vinyl enthusiast and producer KVBeats returns with the blazing new single “You Know The Rules”, taken off his EP “The Breadwinner” (featuring Torae, Pacewon, Chaundon, Little Vic, a.o.) scheduled to drop February 18th on Ill Adrenaline Records.
“You Know the Rules” is a laid back, piano driven boom-bap banger with none other than Rashad spitting fire on the mic. You might remember the Brooklyn MC as one half of the duo Rashad & Confidence, best known for their already classic album “The Element of Surprise”. DJ Rob Swift formerly of the legendary X-Men / X-Ecutioners DJ crew adds some extra flavor to the track by cutting up some classic vocal samples.

Hip-Hop legend Edo.G teams up with his apprentices G. Dot & Born, Boston natives, to shine light on their story and style while also providing their own sound. All production is handled by Confidence, whose claim to fame includes “Rashad and Confidence” and “Purpose and Confidence” on Ill Adrenaline Records and he produced seven tracks on Neek the Exotic’s “Hustle Don’t Stop” LP from 2012.
The LP is fourteen tracks deep with Gdot & Born handling about half the duties on the mic, with the remaining tracks being handled by Edo.G, providing listeners with a nice diversity; while Confidence keeps a steady stream of that authentic Hip-Hop he is known for throughout.
Confidence, a student of the game dating back to the 90’s, first got a taste of music production in the mid 90′s while learning to DJ with his brother Technic. His break didn’t come until 2001 when he copped an MPC 2000xl which he still uses to this day to compose masterpieces.
G. Dot & Born relay the struggle of survival in the streets with hard-hitting raw lyrics, traditional gritty street beats and a confident delivery that takes Hip-Hop back to its essence. G. Dot and Born stay true to the city of Boston that raised them and 90’s Hip Hop influences like J. Dilla, Sean P., Big Pun, Edo G., Kool G. Rap, AZ and Nas by embodying a humble braggadocio that only real life experiences teach you.
Today, the group offers up a tribute song, “Living Legend,” dedicated to the one and only Pete Rock, featuring Pete’s former INI cohorts Grap Luva (Pete’s brother), Rob-O & EDO. G.
Confidence Presents G. Dot & Born Featuring EDO. G will be released on 1-28-14 and you can pre-order it here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/living-legend-feat.-grap-luva/id797819794 & http://redlinemusicdistribution.bigcartel.com/product/confidence-presents-gdot-born-featuring-edo-g
