Baltimore rapper Ralph V, releases “The Stoned Age Ep.” The project contains 7 songs, each with their own sound, showcasing Ralph V’s versatility in production as well as his flows. From Lennon’s underground album “Hindsight” here’s the official music video for the single “Gangsta”. On the track Lennon recruits two of his brothers in Mayhem, Paypa and Tree (who also handles production duties), to shine light on what it means to REALLY be a gangsta as opposed to what most of society views as such.
Directed by J2, the visual is filled powerful imagery from one of American history’s most turbulent eras. The little-over 5 minute clip somewhat places the artists in the shoes of some of Black America’s most powerful and vocal leaders, putting a modern twist on the era’s struggles, fashion, and overall feel. This song was one of the most talked about tracks from Lennon’s original 12-track offering which is set to be re-released, packed with more bonus content. It was only fitting that it be given the visual treatment it deserved.

Klassik, Wisconsin Area Music Industry’s Rap/Hip Hop Artist of 2013, debuted his new LP back in December entitled ‘YRP – Young Rising Phenoms’ available to stream and download below. ‘YRP’ spawned the hot new single and music video, ‘Boogie’.
Klassik releases YRP one year following his well-received 2012 LP, In The Making, which earned him recognition as Radio Milwaukee’s Artist of the Year. Klassik collaborated with other rising artists in both Milwaukee and Chicago such as Lili K, B~Free, Mr. Wilder and THEM People to help shape the sound of YRP.
The project begins with the song Haunts Me, an instrumental tribute to his deceased father that introduces an intimate yet assertive story about his time as artist of the year. This Is That New! is a lively song, denouncing the conformity of musical creativity. Lili K’s sweet voice decorates the melody. #Keepitklassik displays Klassik’s lyrical skills and is the overarching anthem of YRP. He delivers assertive, boastful lines about how he’s coming for the top spot, “Running down a list of your favorites, and when I catch them slipping I’ma gun em down, lyrical assassin.” The album evokes a more heartfelt sentiment on Mothership, which is an ode to Klassik’s mother and her support through both his triumphs and downfalls. Overall, YRP demonstrates the inability to categorize Klassik’s music and the importance of masterful songwriting.
The New York hip-hop scene has been the target of quite a bit of criticism for not properly repping its own artists; Trinidad James went so far as to claim that the South runs NY rap.
Queens rapper N.O.R.E. spoke on what he believes is the root of the problem: New York media doesn’t do nearly enough to support local artists.
He also touches on the problem of the media wanting the rap scene to be the same everywhere, whether it be Miami, New York, or L.A.
