Just weeks after the retail release of its debut project, Reem Docs is proud to announce the forthcoming digital release of the groundbreaking documentary DEMOS: An Independent Artist’s Guide To Success. On December 10, 2013, the film will be available for streaming and digital download via Amazon.com, Google Play, VUDU, the PlayStation Network and XBOX Live.
The announcement of the digital release comes on the heels of a successful release campaign, which kicked off on September 10, 2013, when DEMOS landed on store shelves across the country. On that date, to celebrate the release, Reem Docs partnered with several high-profile Hip-Hop website to present a one-time live online screening. The “DEMOS Live Event,” powered by Dailymotion.com, garnered an audience of close to 1500 viewers. Immediately following the screening, Reem Docs partnered with OkayPlayer.com to present a live webchat with DEMOS director Kareem Fort, the film’s principal featured artist Skyzoo, and several other artist from the film, powered by Spreecast.
In addition to the online screening, the film has been showcased for live audiences across the country since Spring 2013, with screenings at SXSW 2013, in Los Angeles during Grammy Week; in New York for a special student screening and panel discussion; a two-week theatrical run in Chicago; and a full evening of events in Atlanta during the 2013 A3C Hip-Hop Festival. With each screening, DEMOS has sparked great conversations within the independent Hip-Hop community and received rave reviews from fans and media critics alike. “You spend so much time and energy creating a project like this,” says budding documentarian Kareem Fort of his first feature-length documentary, “and once you’re finally ready to release it to the world, this is the kind of reception you pray for. I’m so excited about continuing to push this movement forward over the next few months.”
While gearing up for this exciting next chapter, the DEMOS team is also planning a series of live events – including a tour in support of the film’s soundtrack – that will continue to not only raise awareness for the film, but also continue to redefine success for the independent Hip-Hop artist in today’s market.
