RAEKWON – LIVE
(ON STAGE 11:30pm)
Plus very special guests!
THURSDAY 25 OCTOBER
AT VILLAGE UNDERGROUND
Celebrating the release of his upcoming album (September 10th) ‘Fly International Luxurious Art (FILA)’, Raekwon comes to London as part of his latest world tour. Usually performing to thousands, come witness a true living legend take over Village Underground for one of the most anticipated and intimate hip hop performances of the year!
Corey Woods (born January 12, 1970) is an American rapper known to most as Raekwon (the Chef), one of the nine original Wu-Tang Clan members. Raekwon joined Wu-Tang Clan, the legendary hip hop group based in Staten Island, New York in 1992. When the time came for him to release his first solo album in 95’, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx…, hip-hop, once again, underwent a momentous transformation.
Having recently worked with JAY-Z on ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’, The Chef will later this year drop his new album ’FILA’, featuring new music and collaborations from hip hop legends in Ghostface Killah, Capadonna, Method Man & Nas plus fresh material with UK soul singer Estelle.
With a sound comparable to none, UK lyricist Jehst’s entrance onto the domestic Hip Hop scene truly gave birth to a new breed of wordsmith. His debut release Premonitions (1999) on his own YNR (Young N Restless) Productions imprint instantly allowed the then 19 year old to establish himself as a fiercely independent artist with an unparalleled grasp on language. Far from just a local hero, Jehst has been billed alongside living legends such as Lee Scratch Perry, Max Romeo, KRS One and De La Soul.
This is a good year for hip hop… Raekwon’s first full-length solo effort since 2011’s critically acclaimed Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang, Lex Diamonds. Don’t miss out – Raekwon is back with a vengeance…
