‘Overly Dead’ is the debut release from SUBCULTURE SAGE, a project that brings together Tropical producer ‘Subculture Sounds’ and Jungle/Grime MC ‘Hypeman Sage’ an emcee we have featured here on HHL&T in the past.
A mutual love for Hip Hop brings together these musical vagabonds. They‘ve crafted a sound that, whilst giving a nod to the genre’s heritage, is firmly rooted in London’s cultural mosaic, infusing the city’s urban grit with tropical and Asian colour. Overly Dead is the first taste from the duo’s forthcoming album.
An impressive roster of musicians and creatives have enlisted in the project including acclaimed photographer Paul Phung, MIXMAG, Roundhouse film makers, Mahogany Sessions and the man who recorded all of Wu-Tang’s early hits, Yoram Vazan.
Self-released under Subculture Sounds’ Twisted Hearts banner, there is a body of work in the pipeline and a soon to be released video for the single. Listen as worlds collide.
