Soundcrash is proud to present the first London takeover from the legendary LA club night Low End Theory featuring the resident crew in full plus resident in spirit Kutmah. A unique chance to experience one of the most influential club nights in the world without having to pay for a transatlantic flight!

A legendary left-field Los Angeles club night that draws hundreds of fans every Wednesday night to the Airliner in Lincoln Heights, Low End Theory is known across the globe for supporting visionary artists, promoting breakthrough sounds and nourishing a vibrant artistic community. Blending futuristic hip-hop with experimental electronic sounds, Low End Theory is a hub of the beat community and a place where creative minds congregate on a weekly basis in Los Angeles, monthly in San Francisco and quarterly in Japan. With an eclectic palette of five world-touring residents and a diverse audience of music lovers, Low End Theory is a fresh sonic showcase whose reverberations can be heard around the world.

Low End Theory’s five resident performers include Daddy Kev, Gaslamp Killer, D-Styles, Nobody and Nocando:

Daddy Kev is a seasoned hip-hop producer and local legend who has engineered albums for countless artists including Flying Lotus, Daedelus, Nosaj Thing and many more. The founder of Low End Theory and head of influential local label Alpha Pup Records, Daddy Kev was dubbed the “LA underground godfather” by XLR8R Magazine and is a bedrock of the city’s independent music movement.

Gaslamp Killer is Low End Theory’s most famous resident, a wild world-touring DJ, dynamic performer and producer on Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder label. A high-energy artist who is loved by audiences around the globe for his singular style and devotion to the collective experience, Gaslamp Killer is a high-demand performer who is equally at home in front of massive festival crowds and at dark underground parties.

D-Styles is a scratch legend who played a pivotal role in the foundation of the scratch music community and helped transform turntablism into a global phenomenon. Rising to fame as a member of the Invisibl Skratch Piklz, D-Styles is regarded as one of the most skilled scratch DJs in existence. He is a world-touring performer and officially-designated Serato icon, a self-taught scratch artist whose cutting skills are often imitated but never replicated.

Nobody has been a fixture in the LA music scene for decades, a producer and performer with an extensive world touring history who has worked with such high-profile artists as the Postal Service, Prefuse 73 and the Mars Volta. Featured in Dublab’s documentary film on creative sound recycling, Secondhand Sureshots, Nobody has a vast musical vocabulary and sonic swagger that is reflected in his production and performances.

Nocando is the club night’s resident MC, a freestyle rapper and recording artist as well as Scribble Jam World Champion in freestyle battling. His YouTube battle videos have garnished combined views in the millions. Well versed with the streets of South Central LA, Nocando honed his freestyle skills and witty style at LA’s legendary Project Blowed open mic night. With unpredictable performances that evoke the unfiltered creative energy of the So Cal underground, Nocando is one of the best rappers in the world.

Former LA resident Kutmah has been an integral figure in the development of the LA beats scene through his own club night Sketchbook, and was a regular feature in Low End Theory’s line-ups and legendary podcasts. Now living in London Kutmah is slowly but surely building up a reputation as one of the finest DJs in town, and regularly supports artists of the caliber of Flying Lotus, The Cinematic Orchestra or Questlove whenever they are in town. The perfect addition to a very special evening of bass heavy beats in the heart of London.
