BBoys Battle Against Cancer (BBBAC) is a Midlands based integrated event project consisting of graffiti art exhibitions, workshops, discussion groups and a Break Dance exhibition Battle. Bboys Battle Against Cancer is the brainchild of Bgirl Bubbles, the UKs first recognised Bgirl dance performer who began on the scene in the early 1980’s and continues over thirty years later to inspire thousands of young people across the globe in Bboy and hip hop dance styles.
This 3 day hip hop extravaganza is taking place from 25th-27th of July 2013 in Wolverhampton City Centre and has been created to raise funds for Cancer charities in the UK. Many of us have been affected by Cancer either directly or indirectly and we believe it is crucial to champion the groundbreaking research of these charities, as well as the invaluable treatment and much needed support that they provide for cancer sufferers and their loved ones. So the organisers thought – what better way to do it than through the four elements of hip hop?!
What happens over the 3 days at BBBAC?
A feast of hip hop experiences with Bboy dance workshops, live DJs, Graffiti exhibitions, discussion sessions, performances and battles/competitions. The event is in place to raise funds and awareness for the charities, as well as inspire people both young and old to be a part of a positive movement where they are encouraged to create art using the four elements of Hip Hop!
Workshops will be available for dancers of all levels, from undercover bedroom rockers to global floor burners and will be taught by local and international Bboy names.
Discussions will allow everybody (you included!) to take take part in talks with hip hop pioneers and discuss/debate on hot Hip Hop and Bboy topics
Competing Bboy crews can select a Cancer charity to battle for, and win the chance to award their chosen charity with the BBBAC prize fund!
Organisers are already excited to welcome legendary and pioneering Bboys and Bgirls from around the world including:
Trac 2
Pop Master Fable
The Bronx Boys Rocking Crew
London NYCB
Bboy Mouse
…with more names being added daily to this list, everyone involved is overwhelmed with the number of inspirational global hip hop contributors who are all kindly lending their support to this event!
On Friday 26th July our homie Tricksta will be holding a special Beats&Bars Cancer Event, with £3 entry on the door and all money raised going towards the charity

This is an event that I hold very close to my heart as I Lost my Dad to Cancer almost two years ago now. Not many people know this but Hip Hop Life and Times was set up in the weeks leading up to my Dad passing. I was working for another site, when the owner decided to sell it, I offered to continue running it but the owner was just out for the cash and It was my Dad and Tricksta who had the belief in me that I could make HHL&T a success.
I was hoping to be at the event myself but following complications from my Surgery I’ve been told I will not be well enough to travel. So I will be showing my support for this event in any way I can here on HHL&T and would be greatful if as many of you as possible could make a donation or attend the event over one of the three days.
