I’m really feeling this track from Toronto native IGZ. It’s got a sombre flow and narrative to it, and IGZ has a nice vocal tone to his rapping. We’ve posted a few of his previous stuff before (just click his name in the searchy, search button on the front page to check out his other material), and the more I hear from this dude, the more I enjoy. For fans of Apathy, Atmosphere, Ruthless. ‘The True Meaning’ is off the upcoming “IGZPLICIT” dropping Summer 2013, and I’m definitely looking forward to hear what else IGZ can pull out.
Just when you thought we were only posting U.S artists, we’re posting Bigg Taj (featuring DJ Bunty) and his new video for ‘All The Years’. Not only is he from these rainy shores, he’s a Scot too, and who doesn’t like the Scottish? No one, that’s who. You might remember Taj from the 2009 Beatboxing championship, or if you’re so inclined, the documentary about British hip-hop Charlie Sloth hosted. Anyway, this time he’s leaving the cuts in the safe hands of DJ Bunty, and proves that his rap lyricism is just as good as his beatboxing skills.
This was in association with Scotland Stand Up (in case you missed the giant header), so go check them out – scotlandstandup.blogspot.co.uk

A fresh LP, ‘The Achievement Gap’ from another American Westcoast local, Foci. It should probably be played in the summer, but since it’s Spring and kind of sunny sometimes, I guess you’ll just have to close your eyes, and turn the radiator on instead. Foci has a lot of good content, and I really like his storytelling style in this LP, so suggest you go take a listen for yourself and tell me I’m not right. Go on, try eh?

Maryland local, Uno Hype has just dropped his mixtape ‘Be Good’. Even though it’s still a young release, it has a nice soul-vibe to it, and Uno Hype is an interesting rap, that doesn’t seem to scared when it comes to experimenting especially when it comes to working with different DJ’s or producers. His songs are fresh, and it’ll be cool to see where he goes from here.
Featuring appearances from Smoke DZA, T’nah Apex & Hassani Kwess as well as production from DJ Dahi, Brandun Deshay, DJ Black Diamond, Kenny Keys & More.

Trek Life is a rapper that I honestly can’t recommend to you enough. I first discovered him in 2010 when he released ‘Everything Changed Nothing’, and have been a fully-paid up member of his fanclub (metaphorically speaking of course, although a rap fanclub would be kind of cool). That record was an album full of only gems, and no fillers. Three years later, and he’s back to drop his third official album ‘Hometown Foreigner’, a record I, and a lot of others have been waiting for a long time. Just like his previous material, the Californian shows his Westcoast roots proudly, and you can tell it’s from the sunshine state (is that what it’s called? I’m British, everything’s a sunshine state compared to us). His lines are clever and well thought out, and mix well with his soft-spoken, but assertive flow. Duke Westlake produces the entire project, and he really steps up his game on the boards for this one.
I haven’t given a good proper spin yet, but from my initial listen, this is another banger from our man. I was also happy to see Trek Life teaming up with Oddisee again, a killer combination for sure. If you’re a fan of Fashawn, Murs and Evidence then don’t sleep on Trek Life.
