Today is a pretty big day for us over here at HHLAT, as it marks our official partnership with London-based The Doctor’s Orders! These dudes are one of the best promotion teams when it comes to putting on REAL hip-hop nights in London, Brighton and Manchester, since 2005. What was originally created by Spin Doctor, has gone one to become one of the best known promotion companies when it comes to organising hip-hop events with genuine artists within our scene. In the words of The Doctor’s Orders themselves: “The Doctor’s Orders was launched at the now legendary Herbal club in July 2005 with DJ Cash Money as the special guest creating the blueprint for parties focused on quality of guests, music, sound, service and atmosphere that has been followed ever since.”
Since then they’ve been behind events featuring De La Soul, Erykah Badu, ?uestlove, Just Blaze, Kenny Dope, Louie Vega, Gilles Peterson, Maseo, Jazzy Jeff, DJ Premier, KRS One, EPMD, Marley Marl, Dimitri from Paris, Osunlade, Dilated Peoples, Tim Westwood, Alchemist, Eric Sermon, The Beat Junkies, Elzhi, Jazzie B, Phife Dawg, Ali Shaheed Muhammed, 9th Wonder, Maseo, Fatlip, DJ Format, J-Live, The Nextmen, Random Axe, Jehst, Shortee Blitz, Black Milk, Guilty Simpson Foreign Beggars, and many more.
As I’m sure you’re aware Stix and I are not in this in order to live like Scrooge McDuck, (although a nice pair of shoes would be nice). We’re in this to support the culture of hip-hop, and if you know anything about the dudes behind The Doctor’s Orders, then you’ll know they’re exactly the same. That’s why when this was first being set-up, it was never a hard decision. Of course we wanted to help promote these guys, and as such the short and long of it is, we’ll now be repping their logo on the side of our page, and of course promoting their events (which we did anyway, but hey now it’s official yeah), and mailing out a monthly flier to our contacts, and anyone who we think will be interested.
With all that being said, we’re super excited to work with TDO team, and hope you’ll support them as much as we do.
Without any further ado, the 250th Doctor’s Orders show with Jazzy Jeff!
Aimee & Stix
