Another beat tape for you to feast your little eardrums on, from Germany and London (Drumboy’s German, and Motel Eola’s English). 30 Producers Deep is the collaborative effort of many producers and DJs, hosted by Drumboy and Motel Eola. You can definitely hear the rainy weather, and melancholy vibe of our drizzly little island on this album (on Back To Tha Beats I mean this quite literally), and whilst the last beat tape I introduced you to was on a more upbeat tip, this has real moments of introspection and almost mournful aspects to it. Despite being excited about pretty much everything from breathing to eating my dinner, I’m also a fan of darker and more introspective art, and this definitely feeds that need for me. All the artists in their own right are very talented, and each bring their own style to the record; but despite all having very different approaches the album comes together very nicely.
Now, don’t think this is a sad bastard record though, because it really isn’t and there are tracks that make me want to dance around like the cool motherfucker I am. It’s a big record, and being that there are so many DJs and producers you get a healthy mix of ideas and inspirations.
My favourites are ‘Back To Tha Beats’, ‘Vector Sigma’ and ‘Det The Bomb’ (oh my gosh pure DJ skills on that song yum, yum, yum).
Least we forget the fine artwork! The lovely album design was created by Throat Chop.
