Erica Kane has the wordplay! Ashamed to say I’ve never heard of her before, but if you’re a true backpacker then you’ll love her. Then again, if you love style (which you should, because why else are you looking at this site right now?) then you’ll be a fan of her too.
Check her song ‘Do For Love’, original lyrics over the Tupac track.
For fans of Tupac (was that too obvious?) Jill Scott, Lupe.
Another joint from Dre Murray. He’s fast becoming one of my new favourite rappers. Dude has such a great grasp of storytelling and narrative that a lot of other rappers just don’t even come close to. Alex Faith, Sean C. Johnson, B.C and Dirty Rice are all stand along artists in their won right, and each one of them gives the song its extra depth. You lucky lot get to download this for free, now ain’t that just the nicest?
Now, now I can’t stop posting South West UK artists if they keep sending us stuff. Sorry guys but my side is representing nicely, don’t get jealous. Stix is from the South East we can balance it out.
Inspectah Deck has released another teaser from his highly anticipated album ‘Czarface’ which was dropped a few days ago. If you haven’t picked it up already, that’s alright. Maybe you need a bit of a push in the right direction? The album has features from Ghostface, Action Bronson, Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire, Roc Marciano, Vinnie Paz, Cappadonna, as well as additional beats from DJ Premier & Oh No. Basically there’s at least two people on this record that most people are big fans of anyway.
Personally I’m a huge fan of 7L and Esoteric after hearing them on the Army Of The Pharaohs albums, so when I heard they teamed up with Inspectah Deck I knew the record would be gold.
Here’s a few more convincing words though.
(Just look at that album artwork. Don’t tell me that isn’t the coolest fucking cover you’ve seen in years)
YES! More South West hip-hop making a big name for themselves.
A pretty introspective track from Proverbz, love this song and you should too.
Detroit locals, The Regiment have teamed up with Rhymesayers and Soul Tools artist, Toki Wright to release ‘The Solution’ for the grand total of nothing. The track’s produced by Nick Speed, and it’s an instant banger, but as always no one believes anyone anymore so I guess you’ll just have spend that extra 1 second and have a listen for yourself.
Murdoc and Calligraphist are both on high levels when it comes to lyrical flow, and they style works really well with Jesper Olsson & Linus Engdah instrumentals and production on ‘Charades’. If you’re a fan of Tonedeff, then I think you’ll be a fan of these dudes too.
Love these dudes, they could write a song about anything and make it sound good. Although in this case, the subject matter of this song is anything but boring. Stereo Boyz have released a track about one of my favourite things in the whole world, I don’t know what Stix would say though ha. Ten points if you guess what the song’s about just from reading the name. This is off the upcoming album “Carz, Clubz & Theaterz” (out May 7th 2013).
