Icelandic producer Abstrkt Idea has recently released his record through Lunatic Records, featuring the legendary Sadat X from Brand Nubian. It’s a good mix of old and new skool, something for the backpackers and something for the soul lovers. Abstrkt’s use of horns and subtle synth parts in a lot of his tracks gives it a nice touch, and doesn’t oversaturate the record, but instead enhances it nicely. ‘Detective Sax’ is a really good example of both instruments being used to their best. This is only free until February the 18th, so I suggest you get your hands on a copy whilst you still can. Then, oh noze you might actually have to finacially support your music scene. Eek!

Some interesting vocal tones and collaborations from Denver locals FLY4WIRD and vocalist Abigail Freed. It’s a definate grower. Give this track a few spin rounds and you’ll be a fan. For fans of Common, Qausimoto and Darkothesuper.
