Profound Poets – ‘Palingenesis EP’ (Free Album Download + Mini Review) @ICUKOfficial @OfficialSneakZ
We were only put onto Profound Poets via our Facebook page, earlier today. It’s always the worst when someone messages you directly when they know you’re online, and there you are ignoring them all because you’re too much of a sucker to tell them you’re not going to put their badly written music. Although as a disclaimer, if we haven’t replied to you yet, that’s not because you suck, it’s simply because this site is only run by Stix and myself (Aimee). Two people and an inbox full of emails, so please be patient. Anyway, aside from that, back to the actual artists themselves. When sneakZ from the PP messaged us, I was busy doing ten other things, so I pressed played and went about my business. Straight away I had to check myself, and wonder if this really was a debut self-released album? I know I’ve said that about one or two other artists recently, but I can’t lie if it’s true.
The production blurs the lines between avant garde, and just plain dark and atmospheric, whilst the two MCs rap as if they’re world weary already. Although, let’s be honest if you’re from the UK you’re born moaning; so of course that type of outlook is going to show up within your art. Not to say that Profound Poets are on a strictly negative tip; it’s just more realistic than others. Both rappers compliment each other really well, and I’m a big fan of their individual vocal tones; very reminiscent of Chester P.
Also, I refuse to call it an EP, there’s 11 tracks on this record son!
Hey, don’t take my word for it though, give the album a listen for yourselves.
For fans of Chester P, Jehst, Ruthless, Leafdog.

A pretty young, but very promising release from my hometown local (although now residing in London), Mr Kelly. He sounds like he’s listened to as much Wu-Tang Clan as he has Rhymesayers, but then again those two are pretty synonymous with one another, and anyone who tells you different is a liar and/or a very misguided person. Read a book.
The releases are raw and unpolished, cleverly written and well woven. Kelly does a good job of jumping between surrealism and easy-to-follow narrative.
Raw, gritty artists are what we’re all about over here, so trust us, and go give him a listen.

If you’re not a fan of, or not aware who Reef is then not only do you lose a good thousand underground cool kids points, but more importantly, your ears have been missing a whole of goodness. Don’t worry though, because he’s giving away a mixtape album on his bandcamp that you can cop for free. There’s still time to get those points back.
For fans of Army Of The Pharaohs (obviously), Jedi Mind Tricks, Blacastan, Coka Nostra.
Oh my days. Hamster motherfuckers, take note; even Cappadonna’s chilled out songs have more bite than 90% of the stuff on the radio. J Glaze created such simply, but solid production for this one, hats off. Pull your life together! Wu life forever.
From Wu-Tang Clan Member Cappadonna’s newest offering “Eyrth, Wynd & Fyre” 2xLP “Pull Your Life Together” (Prod. J. Glaze) The Double Disc album drops 2-26-13 on RBC RECORDS and is a MUST OWN for all Wu-Tang & Hip-Hop heads alike as Donna Cappa Goins takes the listener on an introspective look through his development in the game.
