I have to admit I’m always impressed when a rapper has produced their own release. This does of course run the risk of producing some awful beats, and having no one to tell you; but in Floops’ case he knows his style, and is self-aware enough to create music that goes hand in hand with his rapping.
‘The One Band Band’ is a promising first mixtape, and is full of heart and potential and is an extremely positive record-and here was everyone thinking we only rear anger and/or depressed rappers over these rainy British shores.
Whilst this is his debut mixtape, Floops has been around the underground for some time and already produced tracks on Giggs’ mixtape ‘Walk In The Park’, an influence which I think is quite obvious once you know. In short, in if you want to hear some positive, catchy UK hip-hop then Floops is your man.
For fans of: Giggs, early Lowkey, Mic Righteous.
