Marv-ill Superlungs is a new breed of beatboxer that is known for his power and originality. Marv can make a rig shake like no other with his powerful bass, drums and melodies and can make any crowd scream and shout on cue. He has been a finalist in the 2011 and 2012 UK Beatbox Championships and is also 1 half of the first ever UK Team Beatbox Champions “Ill Bits” with Hobbit. Marv also works with The Beatbox Collective (TBC), a group of the top beatboxers in the UK and has performed as several festival this year with them including Bestival, Boomtown, Shambala, Lovebox and Boom Bap.
Marv-ill is best know for being the “Beatboxing MC” and is one of only a few people in the world to be able to beatbox and rap at a very high level and is even able to do both at the same time. He combines these skills with his knowledge of music production and his looping equipment to create a full show where all beats are made live in front of the audience. Marv-ill then adds his own lyrics, literally being the modern version of a “One Man Band”.
Marv is a dedicated and professional workshop leader and mentor, working with schools and youth organisations to deliver beatbox and rap workshops of the highest standard. He focuses on making these workshops fun, challenging and educational. The workshops help with creativity, confidence and teamwork as well as alternative view on music theory and practicality.
Marv-ill released his first mixtape; “The Limitless Mixtape” this summer. Inspired by the film of the same name, this mixtape is all about the potential of humanity, the lies we are told and the major obstacles keeping us from a peaceful, cooperative way of living. He has poured his heart and soul into this project with beatbox freestyles, self produced vocal tracks and lyrics over his own beats as well as instrumentals of tracks by a host of hip hop heavyweights, from 2pac to The Roots to The Pharcyde. The future is bright for Marv, with several projects in the pipeline and more upcoming releases planned. With many shows in circulation and development, such as Beatbox/Opera collaborations, The Beatbox Collective, Beatbox Theatre, Solo Beatboxing and Beatbox/Rap Loop Shows, he has shown he can put on amazing and crowd-pleasing shows for all types of events and audiences.
