It’s young and needs work, but he’s got potential.

Been going through the inbox, and getting through the last couple weeks that we might missed, I found this jewel of a record. It’s a pretty dark, but very sincere record and I really can’t hate the production and instrumentation on it. It fits perfectly with Jae Apollo’s vocal and lyrical style. This is the first time I’ve come across this dude, but already I’m impressed. ‘All The Right Mistakes’ is a perfect example of how to write a conceptional album without writing one. Does that sound super pretentious? Oh well, I’m a writer that’s part of my job you know. No over-used cliches. No, “I came from the hood, here’s my guns” bang bang stories, when really you came from the same neighbourhood as where my great aunty lives. Although since I say that all the time, I suppose that’s a bit of a cliche in and of itself now too, oh the irony.
It’s an introspective and clever record with a lot of potential, and I haven’t been this impressed with a rapper for a long time.
For fans of CunninLynguists/Kno, Atmosphere, Prince EA, Lupe.
This was put out in November of last year by AC, but he’s going to be releasing his full-length ‘Keep it Together’ it’ll be featuring ‘True Story’. This is a deep and pretty sad, but as always a solid track.
Also: “BBC asian network’s playlist ppl say they can’t rotate the song cos it is too ‘young a record’ . Or are they just scared of racist people complaining? If you think they should play it text 81869 and request ‘PLAY TRUE STORY BY AC’ or email that to asiannetworkonline@bbc.co.uk” – A.C

Basically, I couldn’t think of a better title, or at least something that rhymed so ‘Classics Sunday’ it is. I’m sure you can probably guess what this Sunday segment is going to be about, but I’ll give you a quick explanation. Every Sunday (unless we’re all too hungover or busy getting bussssyyy) we’ll post some classic hip-hop tracks, films, interviews, BBoys, graff pieces and all that good stuff. Capeesh? Now when I say classics, chances are we’ll probably bend that bit to throw a few releases that have come out in the last 5 years. Chances are they might be things that we think are classics, but you think are trash. Well, sorry buddy but that’s the beauty of having different musical taste, but I’d say 90% of the stuff we’ll post up, you’ll like or love. We’ll post probably around 3-5 CS posts throughout the day, so keep an eye out. I hope you enjoy. Happy Classics Sunday, day, daaayy.
If there’s any artists that you’d like to see on this Sunday segment, then by all means get in contact via our Facebook or Twitter and tell us, or comment on this post and we’ll get it popping.
I’m going to start off with some Tupac, because he’s my favourite rapper of all time and every day is a Tupac day. (No holograms ever.)
If you’re feeling extra fruity, here’s a rare Tupac interview when he was in jail.

The latest video from Reps Reppatwa, spitting over a remix of Rick Ross’s Amsterdam. Personally I’m not a fan of Rick Ross, but the production is pretty solid, and I think Repsi does a better job of the track than the original. We’ll be shooting a freestyle/16 bar with Reps next weekend so be on the look-out for that’ it’s going to be gold, kids.

Our homies over at Hip-Hop Kings sat down with the Wu-Tang legend, Raekwon for a cheeky interview about Wu-Tang’s and his solo plans.
On a side note, I always find it funny when rappers from various countries or cities go to different places and say “yeah this *insert city* reminds me a lot of my hometown/country”. Ha.
Big ups to the dudes over at HHK!
