A few weeks back we posted the first part of Allindstrom.com interview with Swizz Beatz. In part 2 of their interview with Swizz Beatz they talk about his come up. They discuss how he got down with Ruff Ryders, DJs he looked up to, working with family, and more. He tells us that his uncles (founders of Ruff Ryders) and Sheek Louch taught him how to make beats. We’re really being served up some tasty treats today, and aren’t you glad we’re sharing them all with you? D3troitStyle recently shot New Haven, MI rapper Knewport’s latest video for his track ‘Under The Bridge’. It’s a straight East Coast vibe video, and keeps the visuals simplistic and colourful. I’d never listened to Knewport before, so this was as knew to me as it will be to you any of you not aware of the man. It’s got well versed, urgent flow and he takes the obvious old skool influences and mixes them well wiith some new skool flavour. Without doubt the second verse is the best and finishes off the song beautifully. This is for the straight hip-hop rats; no bling or ‘bitches’. Just snapback hat, dirty sneakers, black vest, good rhymes.
For fans of God Cypher Divine, Army Of The Pharaohs, Pacewon & Mr Green, Madlib.
Check the video then take a look over at the Soundcloud page for some freebies, and a few cheeky freestyles.
You know what we need? A few more drums in tracks that don’t sound like you made them on fruityloops. Jokes, jokes. But it is refreshing (I’ve said that quite a lot this afternoon) to hear a track this well produced, and not too over done to the point of sounding like the whole thing was made entirely on a keyboard, without a live instrument in sight. I didn’t even tell you the flow of Tha Soloist is second to none did I? I did then. Well timed, smartly versed and a gravel touch to the dude’s tones.
British produced (Welsh to be completely correct), and American rapped, mixed by Trillian of Redphone Records. For fans of Krate Krusaders, classic Wu-Tang, dirty ghetto kids. If you’re a fan of B-Boy/Girling then you’ll really like the video. Go feast your eyes. ‘Pay Homage’ comes from the Solmatic EP 2012.
Got a cheeky exclusive for this afternoon. For a limited time only you can download Savvy, TBear and DJ IQ’s new track ‘I See You’. It’s a sick track and the production really compliments Savvy’s and TBear’s rap styles so well. Check the free download before it goes. Hot potatoes.
Sometimes it’s the most refreshing surprise to have an artist you’re already a fan of come out with a track/album/video that completely an utterly nails it. It only solidifies the reasons you like this artist in the first place. ‘Father’s Day’ is Genesis Elijah’s new song, and it’s a perfect example of what I’m talking about. I mean I know I like Genesis Elijah, and I know he’s a solid rapper, but this track just reaffirms this. If you’re a fan of him, or even if you’re not I strongly suggest that you take a listen to this song; it’s quickly become one of my favourite Genesis’ tracks, and it’s only been released for a little while. (Really digging the cover artwork too).
You can buy the song for the grand total of 79pence on iTunes. That’s less than a bottle of Pepsi Max, and much better for you.
