Standup Recordz has teamed up yet again with some ridicolous (have you noticed how everyone in hip-hop says that? I don’t know, maybe it’s a graff ting. Answers on a postcode please) artists to bring you another bit of audio goodness. I’m not sure if Monk’s a signing or SUR are just helping a friend out, either way I can’t say they’ve ever thrown a foul our way before. Right now it’s 11:38pm and I’m working a night shift at a homeless hostle, helping the hurt, saving the Church (if you know what rapper I bit that off, ten points to you). So whilst I know Monk is a rad rapper I haven’t actually had the chance to listen to this release yet, because even though it’s pretty chilling here I think dudes draw the line at me rocking out on the project’s laptop. So you’ll just have to use your own initive and listen to the record for free, but if you really are a giant sheep and need that extra push, here’s a little quote from the man himself.
“This mixtape doesn’t really have a set concept, but the title of the mixtape fits in with what I’ve done. The word Fanfaronade means to brag and what I’ve done with the mixtape is attempted different styles and attempted to show that I can do more than one style. I done bragging Hip Hop tracks, Socially conscious Hip Hop, a little bit of grime and 1 slightly Horrorcore track.
I realise the first mixtape will never be my best work, but I didn’t want to be confined to one style. I liked the thought of experimenting to see what I liked the sound of best, how much I enjoyed writing the different styles and I think what I’ve come up with works well.
I realise the production quality isn’t up to par with artists these days, but I’m not a producer, i work with what I have. I hope people can overlook the lack of quality production and listen to my lyrics, that’s what my music’s all about, after all.”
