Ms Tempz – Silent Storm (Review)

There’s a few females MC’s that are doing there thing at the moment. Lioness, Lady Lykes, Lady Leshurr, Nolay, Shystie and Baby Blue are all impressive artists, and here is a name to add to that list. Hailing from Nottingham, Tempa aka Ms Tempz is also the voice of Kemet FM with her weekly Hip-Hop radio shows. This new mixtape is a fourteen track excursion over industry beats but is done with a lot more style and finesse than most. She’s very deep lyrically and was pleasantly surprised with a how political some tracks are, these will definitely appeal to Hip-Hop fans who like artist such as Klashnekoff and Lowkey. Tempz is a very talented artist that has delivered a very well rounded project (again!!!).

I was going to write up a little intro to this album but then I read the promotional synopsis and the first line made me laugh so I thought it best to share it all with you. MEOW UK Talent Showcase November 19th

I know, I know it’s two London events posted in one night but what you do want? You’ve got events happening in your neck of the words; be it Liverpool, Scunthorpe or NYC. Drop us a line and I’ll get ’em up. In the mean time you can’t stay this doesn’t look good!

The new and improved CAMDEN ROCK is slowly but surely creating a reputation for excellent live music shows every night of the week.

MEOW had a hand in building this reputation, bringing quality unsigned acts to the stage every month. On SATURDAY 19TH NOVEMBER we return with some more UK talent.

FREEZE

Has just signed a sponsorship deal with Spy Denim & Global Sports. Freeze has become a regular performer for Meow over the past couple of months and has a new mix tape set to be released over Christmas called “The Deep Freeze”.

 SOUL URBAN POET

Started off writing poetry as far back as he can remember. He has surrounded himself in the Hip-Hop culture since he was just thirteen. Inspired by artists such as Tupac, Wiley, Sam Cooke, Akala, Dizee Rascal and Skinnyman, Soul’s focus turned from listening to music to making music.

MINE 2 KEEP

Is a young man with his feet on the ground but with the world at his feet. Something that you cant normally say about artists in the music industry. Been a supporter of Meow showcases for nearly a year now and is definitely one to watch.

WIGGY GENERAL

Started out in music with a group called Killa Beez, began to DJ at house parties and other raves around London, after parting from the Killa Beez he moved on to a group called Jam Thugz. After playing some of his music to DJ Mayor he insisted he joined a group called Gangster Circle, from their he never looked back.

 VERB ALLIES

Are a 2 man group based in the Midlands. STYLUS formerly a DJ has been writing lyrics since his teens and soon after started to make beats. After teaming up with RENOUN they formed the group called VERB ALLIES.

“On “Classical Music”, REL!G!ON reached out to his four favorite emcees – Ras Kass, Planet Asia, Jasiri X and Torae – and created a fictitious rap super group called the “Dangerous Alliance” based on the famous sports entertainment wrestling stable of the same name. “Hearing these four rappers together is a dream. When I was younger I would imagine rap superstar stables, guys that I thought would sound nice together. I do the same thing with wrestlers, it’s very serious for me,” says REL!G!ON. He sent the instrumental first to Ras Kass’ people, then sent that edit to Torae’s people, then Planet Asia jumped on, followed by Jasiri X. The result is “Classical Music”, four of the hardest lyricists over a REL!G!ON beat that he says he uses to secure victory in beat battles. “I would love it if these guys would join together and form a supergroup. I would produce that in a second. They all have their own style but the one thing they have in common is hard lyrics! I’m going to try and make that happen”, says REL!G!ON. “Classical Music” (The Dangerous Alliance edit) is featured on REL!G!ON’S soon to be released album called REL!GULOUS through Wandering Worx Music.”

My Adidas – Mick Boogie

So in between being beaten by a mean muthafucka on Darksiders and drinking flat fizz and rum last night I was also listening to Conspiracy Radio Worldwide. They played a track from the Mick Boogie mixtape “My Adidas” a homage to the great Run DMC.It serves as a tribute not an imitation and I’ve been rocking the mixtape all day since I downloaded it. I suggest you too, treat for the ears. It features some of the skills of Rapper Big Pooh, Kidz in The Hall, GLC, Tanya Morgan and DJ Jazzy Jeff to name a few.

“On November 26th, Londons most respected Hip Hop clubnight celebrates their 4th birthday. Born in a small Soho basement, the Livin Proof collective have quickly grown from strength-to-strength. Since day-one they have been putting on roadblock parties all across London from warehouse parties, Cable, Camp, Concrete, Cargo to initmate bungalow 8 & Marketplace shows, but this time celebrate in the intimate basement of the CAMP in Old Street.

Grown largely through word-of-mouth, they have a unique vibe: a party where guys and girls have stage-dived to Wu Tang; where people run on stage to demand the DJ re-loads a track; a place where despite the chaos everyone leaves with a smile on their face, tells their friends and make sure they come back for the next party. It really has to be seen, to be believed.

Their reputation has meant that in the last 4 years, they have shared stages with Ali Shaheed Muhammed from A Tribe Called Quest, Jay Electronica, Hudson Mohawke, Pharoahe Monche, Frank Ocean, Slum Village, Kelis, and Raekwon. This year saw them take on a mini Germany tour with packed shows in Berlin, Cologne and Aachen, they host a weekly radio show on www.ntslive.co.uk and are to date, the only hip-hop collective to have had a regular slot on the seminal Boiler Room (http://boilerroom.tv) online streaming show.
