Sometimes I think the uniformed have a habit of forgetting that British hip-hop just doesn’t just reside down south, or more specifically, the South East. Actually however there is a massive scene outside of LDN, but I guess I’m preaching to the converted here right? Right. It just serves as a good intro to Ghost67, although Midlands based was born and raised in the deserts of Oman until moving to our sunny shores when he was ten.
Ghost67 is a perfect example of how far you get with just a little bit of determination, skill and some passion regardless of not living in the ‘hub’ of UK hip-hop, the fact that he’s blown up to the point where the legendary Celph Titled wants to spit a verses on his latest single.
“Land of the Lost” has a catchy as fuck chorus! Now I know some people seem to think ‘catchy’ automatically means commercial or poppy. Well you know what? These people are idiots. I found myself singing the chorus all day long after only hearing the song. The verses themselves are also pretty memorable too, and you can tell it wasn’t written with one ounce of the notion of any of it being “throwaway”. Ghost has got some vocabulary for sure (I’m using that one again), he’s well timed and precise. I’m not hundred percent of the first verse flow though, and I found some of it a bit jumpy and not very smooth, he could have been in danger of his featured rapper beating him on his own track. ‘Cause you know Celph killed it and the tight production easily compliments his style and flow. Thankfully however Ghost picks up some much better than where he left off on his first verse and I finished the song being fully convinced.
Now go give them all your rubies and jewels, and like I always say underground rappers need your support far more than N-Dubz does.
