Nottingham MC Karizma and Philadelphia producer Starkey join forces for Karizma’s new single Bad Boy (in a Different Way) which was premiered on Hyperfrank’s official Youtube page on 13 October 2011. The video was directed by Faolan Jones http://www.junglewirefilm.com
Karizma is a Nottingham based MC who started out with local Hip-Hop group Out Da Ville in 1998 alongside Scorzayzee, Lee Ramsay, C-Mone, Tempa and Instinct. He has collaborated with UK Hip Hop’s founding father Rodney P (London Posse) and has performed alongside Afrika Bambaata, Gza (Wu Tang), De La Soul, and Estelle to name a few. Karizma’s MC style spans across ‘hip-hop, grime, dubstep and anything with a beat’.
Starkey is a super-producer and DJ from Philadelphia. He has remixed and worked with some of the biggest names in the UK music scene including Kozzie, P Money, Trim and Virus Syndicate. Nottingham-based production duo BeatGeeks and DJ (Rogue and Nasty FM) and producer Illmana provide official remixes for ‘Bad Boy’.
Karizma released his first solo mixtape ’10/10′ in February 2011. He also hosts regular dubstep event Basslaced and has performed alongside Mercury Prize winning Producer MJ Cole on a number of occasions most recently at Standon Calling Festival in Hertfordshire. Uniquely, during live events Karizma takes subjects from the audience to freestyle. In this performance the crowd gave him three random subjects; Shoes, Kebabs and T*ts and A*s. This summer Karizma also performed alongside Starkey at London’s Lovebox festival.
BadBoy in a Different Way is released 28 November on Bad Mannerz Entertainment
